Wellesley CO 2015 EE/RD Thread

i got a likely

^owleyes, that’s quite shocking. I mean if you got a likely from Yale, then a possible from Wellesley is meaningless. Like omg, you have to get accepted to Wellesley if you’re practically accepted to Yale!!!

@owleyes, thats extremely weird/shocking/surprising/W T F

Owleyes,

I think Wellesley wants people who seem really gung-ho about their school. Maybe they weren’t sure how you felt based on your Why Wellesley essay. By e-mailing them intermittently to demonstrate your continued interest and to tell them about new awards and/or accomplishments, it could well tip the scale in your favor.

No matter what, with those stats, I’m sure you’ll end up at a fabulous school. Best of luck from now until April. (Not that you need it!)

Hi everyone! Long time since I visited this forum :)

I’m glad to see all the Likelies, congratulations to those who got them!
Owleyes: that is very surprising! This just showcases how random the process really becomes!

I wish I SO WISH I could’ve applied EE. :frowning:
Is there anything I can do to make the adcms aware of my strong interest in Wellesley being an international applicant? I mean, I emailed them once, but it’s not like I can bombard them with mails all only talking about how much I love the school (this purpose is already served by the why W essay anyway)
And school here ends in Feb/March so there aren’t any updates too. :(

@referee, via, marama: thank you for the suggestions and comments! I will try my best to do so (: Good luck to you all!

Congratulations to all the people getting likelies… Wow! Wellesley is just so fab!

@GarfieldGirl…I have the same question as you… What could we, as internationals do to show interest? I mean like, I love Wellesley but I can’t hammer this in by constant emails… And school ends Jan for us… I mean our Finals have already started… How do they expect us to do something incredible when we’re anyway getting steamrolled!

And I wish , I wish I could do EE! At least I wouldn’t be getting those paroxysms of fear!

:(

desperado + garfieldgirl- hang in there : ) !!!

I’m so impatient and excited that i check CC automatically every few hours (oh, procrastination). this forum doesn’t seem to be that active though… maybe we should be like previous years (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/wellesley-college/457762-pass-time-until-letters-come.html</a>) and play a game? : )

Yeah let’s play a game!

I’m pretty positive I’m going to SoC. So excited for that! Anyone else going?

Spring Open Campus?

I’ve already visited and I’m rather far away so I doubt I’ll go to that :frowning: If I get into Swat or Vassar I might go to one of their admitted students weekends since I haven’t visited those two yet. I haven’t seen Barnard or Bard yet either but at this point I think Smith and Wellesley have pushed those off the table.

I’d love to visit Wellesley again, though…my first visit kind of sucked cuz it was straight off of a red-eye flight. The info session was fine because I had just had coffee, the tour was lovely (I visited in late October), but sitting in on a class…I was nearly falling asleep. Talk about embarrassing! Luckily I didn’t actually conk out.

I check CC all the time too! My senioritis is soooo bad, especially after getting accepted to two amazing schools, I just want to plan my college career and meet all the people I may be going to school with and GO already!

I don’t really frequent the boards as much for the schools I haven’t heard back from yet. Those make me more nervous because then I see those “2390 SAT 4.9 UW GPA chance me omg I’m so nervous I won’t get into (insert college I’m applying to here)”. Or the chance-me juniors, who just irritate me, which is totally hypocritical considering I was one of them a year ago :)

I have never visited Wellesley, nor have I been in the New England area. Yikes. Anyway, totally understand about senioritis. I have three labs due and didn’t even start working on them over the weekend. It’s so hard to do anything high school related when you’re accepted, or LIKELY accepted, to your dream school.

And collegeconfidential kidz crack me up, at least the ones with 2450s on their SATs and bemoan the “fact” that they won’t get into any of the schools they applied to. Urban Dictionary flaunts the stereotype quite well:

[Urban Dictionary: college confidential](Urban Dictionary: College Confidential)

I never thought I’d be hit with senioritis but here i am, baking muffins at midnight while I still have an essay to finish. Um… I guess I should be concerned?

kenzie- aww, that’s too bad. I’ve seen Barnard. If you haven’t visited NYC ever, you may be awed by everything there. Barnard as it’s own separate campus though isn’t too impressive.
curbyourfear- I only saw wellesley for 2-3 hours and I don’t really remember it because it was BEFORE I started getting really interested, but I recall it’s open and vast and green and beautiful. : ) I can’t wait to visit again.
That urban dictionary definition is hilarious. Although, I really really dislike the chance threads on CC.
Compared to you guys I live so close; the drive up is only 4 hours!

–
copy-pasted from the 2008 thread…

The deal: The poster ahead of you asks a question. You answer it. You ask your own question.

We could just talk around this thing too if it’s not interesting… I hope more people introduce themselves.

What language are you taking in school/if you could learn any language, what would it be?

I took SL IB Spanish last year, tested, and got a 5 (out of 7, for those who don’t know the IB scale). Hated the class because of an obnoxious teacher. I’m hoping to take Italian and study abroad in italy because that’s where my family is from.

Which decade of the 20th century do you really belong in?

Either the 20s or 60s.

What food best describes your personality?

HI! I applied RD!

I’m an international student.

Wellesley is my FIRST FIRST FIRST choice and I REALLY really really really x 10000 want to get in.
It’s actually a really reach school for me (considering my numbers) but I gave it a shot anyways. =P

I’m surprised that many of you applied to Mount Holyoke. I applied there too but I didn’t know that school was so well known…hmmm interesting.
(Maybe it’s because I live in Korea. Not many people know that school ^^)

anyways, I hope we all get in!

HI I’m also an international student who applied RD!
I’m from Korea =]

Wellesley is my absolute FIRST choice!
I really really really x1000000 want to get in!
Truth is, it’s actually a super reach school (considering my SAT scores and what not ;( ) I don’t really expect to get in but I’m still keeping my fingers crossed!

It’s really interesting that many of you are applying to Mt. Holyoke!
I didn’t know that it was a famous(?) or well known(?) school.
(well maybe it’s because I live in Korea. I don’t know very many people who know that school)
well…
I’m applying there also!

hi there shay! Loong time!
thanks for the support, and congrats on your likely!

@curbyourfear: i agree with your post, but only in part. I think you should cut intermational students some slack. For them, it’s not enough to be ‘good enough’, the question is if they’re ‘one of the best’, because competitive schools have some sort of quota for them. For eg, princeton has a rule of not accepting more than ~9 applicants from my country India, and there are around 50+ 2300ers from here not to mention innumerable 2200ers, who all have decent ECs too. And it’s not like they all have some sorta agreement saying ‘okay you apply to these, and i’ll apply to these so that we don’t have cross admits’. A lot of very highly qualified applicants have to settle with a school that is less than what they deserve.
Plus doesn’t CC stand for the ‘elite’ portion of applicants? It IS meant only for overachievers (realism anyone?)! One could take the spirit that prevails here as discouraging,or they could be inspired to do better (Anomaly’s story is an example).

just wanted to drop in and say congrats to all the likely EE applicants (:

I’m an RD applicant (couldn’t get my crap together in time for Jan 1st). Wish I’d done EE, though.

@ Garfield Girl, I wasn’t aiming that post at international students in particular. I understand the competition in countries such as India and China is a whole different sort of intense in comparison to America. While the atmosphere on CC can inspire us to work harder, I think a lot, although not the majority, of posters (especially on the Ivy forums) get too obsessed with getting into the most elite schools. It’s important to know that the Ivys and tip-top LACs are not the only colleges worth attending.

jessih92- Hey there! Welcome. Best of luck to you! Do many Koreans know Wellesley? When I tell some of my friends here I get blank stares and then I just go "it’s a women’s college :T " I’m Taiwanese so my parents think very highly of Wellesley-- my perception of Wellesley’s “prestige” is all screwed up, haha.

GarfieldGirl- I’ve got my fingers crossed for you. And thanks! : )

blarghh- Hiya! Nice name, haha. I almost didn’t make the deadline-- thankfully I beat my procrastination for once. good luck to you.

curbyourfear- Food… that’s hard. I’ll say chunky peanut butter and let you make inferences. lol.

What’s the last book you (everyone, anyone) read?
