Do you think when they look at ED applicants, they compare us to the ED pool or do they compare us to general Wellesley applicants and standards?

SinFused: It says on their website that the standards are the same whether for early decision or regular admissions. It is because the ED pool tends to be better qualified as a whole that a higher percentage of applicants make the cut.

This makes perfect sense. Why settle for less in the ED round?

@marama
good point haha thanks!

Actually, I heard from someone in the Admissions office that since Wellesley had more acceptances last year, they are going to be accepting fewer people this year. As it is, they have too few dorms, and some of the upperclassmen are dorming in Regis this semester, since there are too many freshman and too few rooms. So there will be a cut in the acceptance rate.

Hudablossom: Does Wellesley cap the overall number of ED acceptances in order to reserve a pre-determined number of spots for regular decision?

I think that although the admissions office might not admit it, ED applicants do get a little break. I saw on Naviance that ED applicants from my school get admitted with a few points lower than RD. Maybe this slight advantage will balance out with Wellesley trying to cut back the admissions rate.

I’m sure we get a little leeway through ED, no matter what. I also think the competition is a bit more…varied? I know three other girls applying to Wellesley and they couldn’t be more different. One of them has stellar grades (near perfect GPA) and is super strong in academia. She wants to major in physics. The other has average grades (a B+ GPA) but is probably one of the most creative and artistic people I know. She wants to get into the fine arts program & I’m sure her art supplement was awesome. The third girl is gung-ho into psychology…has a below average GPA but that’s because she transfers highschools constantly due to her family problems. She wants to use her education in psych. and her personal experiences to help others. I think it’s impossible to pinpoint a Wellesley ED applicant :)

O: I haven’t received a confirmation email with MyWellesley passwords yet! Should I be worried?

SinFused: If I were you, I might give them a call to find out…

yup i’m planning to do that if i don’t receive an email when I come back from school tomorrow~~

Anyone doing sports if accepted?
if not, what are you planning to be involved with (clubs, societies, etc)?

I want to keep doing lacrosse! I just played for one season for my school but it was so much fun! Clubs wise, some kind of choir
Does Wellesley has a well-known singing group?

OMG yes, Wellesley has groups like the Tupelos, Blue Notes, and Toons! look them up on Youtube, they are awesome! I kinda wanna join a singing group too :)

I don’t do sports, haha.
But I want to join Blue Notes, Choir, Chinese Student Association, Habitat for Humanity, TZE Art and Music Society, and Wellesley News.

Hi! I also applied ED Wellesley

I broke average SAT score but I have a low GPA
that’s like my biggest concern…
I did good on AP classes but for some reason I missed As’ in regular classes…

How does your GPA look like
would GPA be more critical than SAT scores? :(

@yoohaksong
I’m probably not the right person to answer this because I am international student but I am sure that Wellesley will not reject someone based on only one factor! If your GPA doesn’t look as good, there is gonna be something that you can make up for it! Like your SAT scores and AP classes!

@SinFused
I wonder how hard it is to get into those chorus though
I can’t use YouTube here, but I’ve got the impression of Wellesley having pretty good choir!

@bonni
it’s nice that you’ve got a lot figured out! I just kind of know what I like but not sure about the particular organization.
I wonder how much time we could put to extra-curricular though.

@11Wangs
Haha, I’m scared that I wont have enough time ):
Although I’m pretty sure 2 hours of EC everyday would be fine.
but then again,it’s college.
Are you from mainland China? What school do you go to?

@yoohaksong
as 11Wangs said, your gpa won’t be the only thing they look at, I would say for Wellesley, leadership and passion are one of the most important parts of your application. As long as your gpa is not TOO low and your SATs are good, it’ll all depend on your extra curriculars, essays, recs, (and maybe interview if you had one). While they want someone who is smart with good grades,they also want students who will to contribute to the Wellesley community. So if you feel confident about the rest of your application, your lower gpa might be leveled out
good luck!
