Wellesley College Class of 2015- Early Decision

@Meanderer
I’m ok, just barely hanging. The wait is terrible. ):

@imwaiting
I’m international too, they sent an email with the passcodes to me about two weeks ago. You should probably email or call them.

So, Wellesley wants a mid-year or trimester report by the 22nd.
I currently do not have good grades because I thought that they only checked semester grades…
Does anyone know if the mid-year reports count toward whether an applicant is accepted or not?

@evelyn5356
the midyear report should be based on whether they keep you or not, because by then an applicant should already be accepted to worry about that part haha
I would say if you keep your grades at A or B, you should be fine! i’m pretty sure they understand the senioritis thing, they just don’t want to see you slack off too badly.
and remember, they also require a FINAL report around April or May-ish, so keep those letters up~~:)

Evelyn5356:

My daughter’s counselor told her that if any of the grades on her progress report were disappointing, she should send a short written explanation to the college explaining why.

does anyone know how the results of acceptance/deferral/rejection will be sent? e-mail or letter? also, if it’s sent by e-mail… what time? and is it december 15th?

I AM SO ANXIOUS.

oops ok i just answered my own question. i called admissions and they said “mid-december”, i asked them to specify and they said december 15th at 8pm via e-mail.

8pm !!!

That is going to be one lonnggg day… sounds like they are using every minute of the time they have to make their decisions.

Thanks for calling and letting us know, lulu.

8:00!?! I’m dying here! 26 more days!
Thanks for telling us though!
Is that in boston’s time zone?

On another note, they’re going to start reviewing our applications on Monday! Good luck ladies!

8 PM?!?!?! SERIOUSLY?!?! I’m gonna be a walking zombie for an entire day hahaha
I’m so nervous…after Thanksgiving break…it’s 2 weeks of school and BAM! DECISION.
good luck my friends, hope all us CC-ers make it!!
and thanks lululemon33 for the info!

Hi, everybody. I have a question for everyone in this forum who is excitedly awaiting their admissions decision: How do you stay in such a positive frame of mind? In our house, I would say that, more than anything else, there’s a feeling of terror and dread at the prospect of my daughter being rejected. Then, there’s the whole idea that, if she IS rejected, maybe the topic she chose for her personal essay was too risky, and that’s why they didn’t want her, in which case, perhaps she should write a new personal essay before applying anywhere else…

Oh, this is truly an agonizing time of our lives.

@ marama

Ummmmm I totally understand your feeling and family’s. But everyone is dealing with that kind of terror or dread as well; by thinking positively, we are trying to overcome it though. Or at least, that’s what I am doing right now.

True, it’s agonizing. Let’s cross fingers.

@marama
For me, I try to not think about it as much (even though I can’t help it sometimes), but I keep myself busy with school and extracurriculars. I’m even doing an 8-weeks sculpture class to distract myself. Tell your daughter to find something she really enjoys doing, and keep herself busy :slight_smile:
another method that really works for me is that I KNOW after reading a good book and watching a great tv series or movie will keep my mind busy thinking about what happened in the story (I enjoy dark thrillers and mystry books/movies). So maybe if she knows what keeps her mind busy, she can try this method.
I guess what I’m doing is to not think about it as much, because the truth is, there is nothing we can do at this point-everything is out of our hands-so worrying would just be mentally tiring. Stay positive! We all need to be :)

Sinfused and catonthestreet: Thanks for sharing your thoughts. In my daughter’s case, the idea of pleasure reading, watching TV or doing other fun things isn’t really an option, because she has so darned much homework to do. Her course load is seven AP and Honors classes, and she also has a required, independent senior research project that she’s working on right now (rough draft due on MONDAY!!).

I know there’s nothing anyone can do about the wait. In the meantime, however, both she and I are overeating as a result of the stress. I hope we can get our figures back when college application season ends.

@marama

I understand how busy your daughter’s course load is (I have all IB and AP classes), but there needs to be some way to release stress and anxiety or it’ll be VERY unhealthy mentally and physically~ plus we will need that stress-releasing skill in college, too

start by doing just one fun thing for an hour or two per week, it’ll make a HUGE difference!
good luck!! :)

By the way, I think the website Wellesley offered us to check whether our application stuff and test score reports were arrived, is really efficient. Not many school provide such service to their applicants.

They start reviewing applications TODAY!!!
GOOD LUCK LADIES!

Did they send out an official email saying that they start today? I’m just nervous because I haven’t gotten any mail or email for a long time.

GOOD LUCK! =)

@valere
don’t worry, they didnt send anything haha it’s just they wanted all materials in by Nov 22 and in an email I sent admissions a few days ago, their reply implied that they start on Nov 22 :)

Hey everyone! I also applied ED. I think that this is probably true for all of us, but I am totally on pins and needles waiting for the decision! I am really hoping that I am accepted!!! Good luck everyone, and hopefully some of us will meet each other on campus next fall! Today is day 23 in the countdown, we are half way there!

Hey ladies, I also applied ED. Wish us all the best of outcomes and that we have an even merrier holiday season than usual ;)
