I’m planning on International Relations/Political Science… The wait is KILLING me. :((
Biology/Psychology here. Do you guys have some other schools on mind?
If I get rejected, I’m looking at Hamilton, Barnard, Northeastern, Colgate, and SAIC. (But I’ll only go to SAIC if I get a big scholarship)
Are you guys sending your RD applications to other schools after the 8th or have you already sent them? I thought it would be pretty pointless sending them before the admission release, because if I (fingers crossed) get in, I’d have to withdraw those applications anyway right?
I’m considering some other women’s colleges( Smith, Barnard, Bryn Mawr, Mount Holyoke) and also co-ed colleges (Reed, Wesleyan, William&Mary). Just sent out my UC applications though I don’t really want to go to big schools…I’ll start preparing for RD before the 8th, but we’ll see when the decision comes out.
FINGERS CROSSED!! I would probably cry tears of joy if I get admitted…
I’m waiting because I don’t want to have to do all that work and pay all that money if I’m not going to go there. I have sent applications out to some early action schools though.
Oh man, if I get in I’ll definitely cry tears of joy!
Best of luck to all of you!
Same ! I’ve written RD essays etc but I’m just going to wait till after the 8th to send applications… What are you all most excited about Wellesley (if you were to get in) ??? fingers crossed for everyone. Posting here should count as demonstrated interest! haha
It should, shouldn’t it!
Oh gosh… I don’t think that there is any one think at Wellesley that I’m looking forward to more than another, but I love the internships, the community of powerful women, and the campus among many other aspects that drew me to the school. How about you?
Same ! I don’t think I could number it in terms of preference even if I tried… But I really love that the fact that there’s such an emphasis on female leadership/inner confidence. Like an elegance, but with authority. I think Wellesley is just the perfect combination of providing academic and personal growth. And Lake Waban is just :(( <3
It’s a pity you can’t swim in the lake though
I completely agree!!! Every Wellesley woman I’ve met has been so confident.
And that campus is gorgeous.
How often do you think you’ll go into Boston. I know they say it’s a 35 minute trip, but all of the students I’ve spoken to say it is closer to an hour.
The community of confident and intelligient women is definitely my biggest reason! Also the campus and study abroad opportunities…Oh I would LOVE to go and see the 9-3/4 platform and play Quidditch!!
It took about half an hour from Boston by taxi when I went for the campus tour. Probably the bus would take a bit longer…
Yeah it took about 30mins in a taxi when I went too… but to be perfectly honest, I kind of appreciate the distance. I like the fact that you can go into the city/cambridge/boston on weekends and let loose, and then come back to a quieter/calmer campus with less distractions haha one week left girls ! How competitive do you think ED was this year?
I agree. I love the rural feeling; and having the city as a resource, especially as an artist, is invaluable to me.
This is going to be the longest week ever. It’s actually difficult to believe the decisions are coming out so soon. I feel as though the ED acceptance rate may drop to around 40%, but it probably won’t be that much more competitive than previous years…I hope. … … … :-S
Oh no! I just remembered that Wellesley is introducing ED2 this year! That means that they might accept fewer ED1 applicants than I thought…
What do you guys think about this?
the common trend amongst these small lbc seems to be that ed 1 still has a higher admit rate than ed 2 ( middlebury, pomona are good examples ) but we’ll see!
*lac oops
It’ll be hard to decide which school I should apply for EDII if I’m rejected from Wellesley #:-S
My choices are Bowdoin, Carleton, and Vassar.
Nearly all the schools I plan to apply to are at least half an hour from the nearest city. The distance can definitely contribute to the learning atmosphere, which I value very much!
ONE WEEK…Can’t believe it’s so soon. Let’s hope our love for Wellesley gets recognised…
@CapybaraQueen I guess it is possible, but I wouldn’t assume that because Wellesley is now also accepting ED II applications that they will admit fewer students under ED I. Compared to many other selective schools, Wellesley fills a smaller portion of their enrollment from ED applicants. Last year 28% of Wellesley’s class was composed of ED students. At a number of selective schools this can be as high as 60%. For example, Barnard, Hamilton, Colgate, Swarthmore, Davidson, Middlebury, Claremont are schools where the ED applicants made up more than 50% of the incoming class enrollment. Wellesley has plenty of room to accept more ED applicants.
