hello all!
i'm a resident of the LA area who has always loved ucla and got accepted. however, i also got accepted to wellesley, which i kinda applied to cuz my best friend goes there and the app was free so i thought why not, and was given TONS of money. now, my family is not wealthy by a LONG SHOT, and money definately makes a difference, which is why my parents are pushing me to go to wellesley. i am visiting it in 2 weeks for a better idea of it. but currently, i really love ucla. however, i know it would be harder cuz of the money issue. but the thing is, THEY'RE SUCH DIFFERENT SCHOOLS! so i was wondering if anyone had any general advice, or advice on the advantages/disadvantages of a small lib arts womens college over a large public university that i know for a fact i'm in love with. everyone's telling me i'd be stupid to turn down wellesley... but i don't know... so i just wanted some wellesley insider's opinions. THANK YOU SO MUCH and sorry about this rant... :-P

Well, the obvious advantage of a small liberal arts school are that you can get the personalized education you can't get at a school with 20,000 students. You'll know your professors better, you'll know your classmates better, your classes themselves will be smaller, tere will be more discussion with your professor (and possibly research opportunities).

I know I love that the fact that it's a women's school....but you have to know if you're the type of person that wouldn't mind not having guys around. Also, I was looking for a smaller school--my high school has 360 kids, and I've always loved the community I've had and the fact that I know my teachers so well (though I didn't love some other things).

Don't let anybody make this decision for you. Always remember you're the one going to the school--it's much easier for them to say that you'd be stupid to turn down one or the other. Good luck!
