Wellesley Regular Decision Chances...

Wellesley is my top choice.
How do you think I'll do?

I go to a magnet public school in Philadelphia. The school is very diverse and have 50% low income student. Ranked in top 10 in state, well respected. The top students go to the Harvard, MIT, Princeton, UPenn, UChicago every year.

GPA...low. 3.4 unweighted, 4.3 Weighted.
In all honors and AP courses.... I know, it's low. I would like to think it is not a reflection of my intellect... I am just a slacker.

ACT...low. 26, superscore of 28...

As a junior I took Cultural Anthropology, Macroeconomics, Political Science in addition to my college prep course load at a well respected university in Philadelphia. I also earned As in these.

My sophomore year I won a merit scholarship to study at the University of Pennsylvania studying Japanese for 6 weeks. Earned an A-.

My junior summer, I won another merit based scholarship to study in a US State Department program at a university in Japan in total immersion for 6 weeks.

Presidential Election Judge in November 2008

Volunteering: Appalachian Service Project 2004-2008,

Side notes
My grandmother is a Wellesley alumnae.
I will not be applying for any financial or merit assistance.
I am WHITE. Both my parents have post graduate degrees.
My interview went unbelievable well.
I meet with the head admissions counselor, we talked for an hour, she was wowed by my resume (didn't see my grade though!), she said, "You are exactly the kind of girl Wellesley needs." The admissions staff was surprised when they saw her walking me out, and later said that it is very difficult to win her approval.
I was amazed, I've never had that kind of response before.

I also attended an alumnae event last week and have a great relationship with my Wellesley Counselor. She also visited my school, and has a great relationship with my HS counselors and "trusts them"... she just hasnt seen my grades.

Do you think the interview will have any effect on my chances?
I am so worried that I will not get in anywhere because of my grades. I did do well in college courses though. I'm just so anxious.

Unfortunately, colleges dont care that you are a slacker. Also, they do not superscore ACTs. But, you have great connections with the college and this will really help you. I still think it is a low reach because of your low grades but you never know.

Chance back?
