Wellesley, Sarah Lawrence, etc.

White girl from a pretty prestigious all girls catholic prep school in NY (my grades may look low, but it's really hard to get A's in my school). There are only 2 APs offered before senior year (APeuro&american) because our cirriculum is super tough as it is. I did terrible freshman year due to apathy, but now I'm doing really well. I'm great at essays and interviews, and I know I'll be getting fabulous rec's from my guidance counsler, my american teacher, chem teacher & art history teacher (my intended major).

I worked 40+ hours a week over the summer at a cell phone distributor, and I will be working again this summer. I work during the year at Weight Watchers (I also lost 60 lbs during sophmore year). I will continue working there as well. This summer I'm attending a Journalism Workshop at Stanford University (with a scholarship from my school) and an art history program at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I also went to Italy this April and I'm going again next week, which will be discussed in my essay (well, seeing the Birth of Venus).

SAT: 1890 (610M 630V 650W 10essay) - mediocre!
SATII: Chem 630 (awaiting american & mathI)

Overall, I will try to emphasize my determination despite my dismal start. Also, how much my maturity level has increased.

Scripps

USF

bump?

(ten chars)

I think that you have a good, well thought-out list, and that playing the ED card at Wellesley is a good plan. I would suggest that you complete 2-3 RD apps before the one for Wellesley - perhaps to the likelier admits on your list. Your first application is typically not your best - and you want to be at your best for Wellesley. Also - if you are not admitted ED - you will not have so many other apps to complete.

hey thanks so much for the advice! that's a really good idea.

bump????????

soemone else? please?

do u want to continue your all girls experience into colleg? think about it long and hard.

Your stats are way higher than mine, and I got into Sarah Lawrence, Scripps, Pitzer, and Occidental (I didnt apply to the other schools on your list.) I will be attending Scripps next year. I think you should be fine...you can't always predict where you have a chance based on Stats alone...my grades were lower than yours and I go to a prestigious private school as well, and my test scores were lower, but I really tried to show off my interest in writing, which helped. You should have a good shot at any of those schools.

Yes - I want to continue all womens education. I feel like my confidence soared being in the environment. I've spoken to a lot of girls at Wellelsey and they know a ton of guys and are able to balance social life and academics which I have a major problem doing.

LovleyRita, thanks! I am going to visit the LA schools in Sept and I'm really looking foward to it. You gave me some hope! Is your username from the Beatles song?

yup, from the song Lovely Rita Meter Maid! Yay for you for knowing that!

buuuuuump?

The only one I can attest to is USF(if you mean u of san francisco) I think you are easily in there.

yep, university of san fran!

sarah lawrence. yuckie.

why is it "yuckie"?
the only thing i dont like about it is some of the people are pretentious and its 5 mins from my house.

BUMP?? help a girl out!

I dont mean to play devils advocate here, but your SAT/SAT II scores ar e not that great, yet you say your school is really difficult.

You may want to consider that when you apply.

i suck at standardized testing.

Her SATs are good enough for most of the schools on her list. You don't need a 2100+ to get into college. Besides SAT is optional at Sarah Lawrence.
