Hi! Would anyone be willing to read over my Wellesley supplement and give his/her opinion? I'm not really done yet-- I'm stuck on the last few sentences, and I feel like it's a little long.
Preferably if you've already been accepted, or if you're a parent, or you're a current college student.
Of course, I can read and edit essays too, if you're comfortable with that!

Well, instead of making another supplement thread, I might as well post my question here:

How long should the supplement be? The directions say 2 paragraphs but nothing more
I looked at some previous threads, and they all said around >300? Anyone else care to shed some light?

starflavored- I remember your name from Smith/Barnard forums. : P Adding Wellesley to the list too?
I think 300 is best and 400 should be the max. Good writing is often concise writing, and the adcoms have to read thousands of essays anyway, so the shorter the better. But then again, if you really have things to say I don’t think they’ll penalize you for writing too much. My essay is currently 550 words so I really have to revise it.

shay33, i got your pm. i’ll try to get you it by the end of tonight, so about in 3-4 hours! if you have an updated version before then, just pm me it.

i read it over once already… my initial reaction was “this is pretty cool”. it definitely is unique, but i’ll send over you some constructive criticism as i think about it more :)

Aw, thanks for the quick reply.
Yup, I am applying to Wellesley. All of the Seven (err, Five) Sisters are so darn attractive that I can’t seem to really choose one : (
And gl with the supps ; ) I seriously have to start revising mine as well…

shay33, hopefully you received my reply! i cant see my sent messages (am i being dumb for not finding it, or is there really no place i can check my sent messages) so i hope you got my comments!

Yeah; you can’t see sent messages. CC should work on that. I got your pm! It’s been sitting open because I’m still grappling with the essay and hearing friend’s thoughts. : ) Thank you so much-- pm’ed you back!

^You can! In Control Panel, click on the box labelled Private Messages. Click right over where it’s written Private Messages. A drop down list with Inbox and Sent appears. Click on Sent, and it’ll direct you to the Sent messages inbox. However, CC settings are such that sent msgs are not stored by default. You have to change that in your main setting (change it to save sent messages). Do remember that CC has an irritating 50 msgs limit and the sent msgs are also counted in it.
Hope this helps! :)

Oh bdw, would anyone mind reading my Wellesley supplement too please?
I’m done with it and can send it immediately. Desperate for a review! ;)

(sorry for posting this on your thread shay33, but this seemed to be exactly what I wanted to ask too and I didn’t want to create another thread asking for reviews! Hope you don’t mind)

garfieldgirl- Oh I see… I clicked that before, but I assumed it was a part of CC that was underdeveloped/not working. Haha. Thanks for telling us!
I don’t mind at all-- it’d be so hypocritical of me to kick you out. I’d be happy to read over yours if you’re not uncomfortable that I’m also applying. Just offering so it’s out there! : ) Oh, actually, since you’re doing RD, maybe I can read it for you after I send in my EE app. : )

Thank you Marama!
I shall PM it to you soon.

shay, it’s very kind of you to volunteer (specially since you must be busy tying up loose ends in your own apps), but yes I think that sending it to you after you’re done would be better (unless I’ve already sent it too by then!). I don’t expect you to copy anything down from mine (we’re going to be Wellesley women…hopefully, the Honor code!), but I just feel more confortable about the latter option. (I hope it’s understandable since I don’t really know you? :))
