Hey everyone! I’m applying to transfer to Wellesley College for this fall (2020) and I couldn’t find a discussion so I decided to make one!
Applied as well! But I was looking at the common data sets on their site and was really surprised that they only admitted 21/235 transfer applicants last year – it seemed to usually be around twice that number for previous years, so I wonder how this admission cycle will go?
@CHVRCHES oh that’s interesting!!! I also wonder is the virus is going to affect admissions at all, they’ve already waived the midterm report requirement.
Has anyone heard yet?
@4togo4 I haven’t, I think in previous years decisions started coming out around May 2 but I wonder if COVID is gonna affect it at all?
What date do you all think decisions will come out?
Yesterday another school my d applied to sent an email at 10 am saying decisions would be out at 4. Does anyone know if Wellesley does it the same way?
I’m not sure they do it the same way. Last year, a transfer who was admitted received her decision around May 2-4, I cant remember what day it was exactly. I am assuming that we will have a decision by next week.
I applied to Wellesley as a first-year and I think I remember them sending out an email like that @LBI468 , though I’ve also found transfer admissions to be different than first-year admissions
May 2-4 last year was Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, so I think we’ll probably hear either today/tomorrow or thurs/fri/sat of next week (or maybe it’s completely random!)
I know my friend received her financial aid by May 4 so I’m sure she heard Thursday or Friday
I just saw on my portal that Wellesley will release on May 4 6:00pm. I am so nervous.
@ceciyang ooh thanks for the heads up! Nervous too, but at this point, I’ll be happy to at least get a decision even if it’s a rejection because most schools are delaying them so much.
@CHVRCHES totally understand! I feel the same way. just hope cover-19 will not affect any other part of the application process. and next semester will be tricky! my current college just told us today that we either continue with online classes or wear masks all the time for next fall. everything becomes uncertain now…
@ceciyang Yeah, I haven’t enjoyed college at all after spending 2 years at my current school, so if I get into a school I like and still can’t even physically attend for another semester… oof  My current school is in NYC though, so if the virus gets bad again, they’re definitely going to end up back online lol.
happy decision day!!! does anyone know if there will be multiple waves or if it will all just be in one go?
@corinnaolson Afaik it’s all in one go!
@CHVRCHES okay cool! I thought so since I’m sure there arent many transfer applicants
I JUST found out that Wellesley doesn’t accept students from International universities so I’m just going to wallow in my stupidity
Good luck everyone. My daughter is nervous…
