Wellesley Transfer

Anyone transferring to Wellesley? What are the chances of getting accepted as a Fall Transfer?

I applied as a transfer for Fall '06, but I haven't got my decision letter yet and I'm starting to get anxious. Umm.... I think they accept around 30%... but I could be totally off. I just remember that it was surprisingly high most years.

yeah.. i applied for Fall '06 as well. I got an email saying that they will be posting their decisions online at 5 o'clock on 13th of April. What school are you transferring from Amavit?

I'm transfering (hopefully) from the University of Florida... How about you?

Oh by the way, do you have any idea when they mailed out the letters and when we are supposed to get them?

I'm from Rutgers University in New Jersey. According to the email, they said they're going to mail out the decisions on the 13th as well.

Anyone who's applying to wellesley as a transfer student, post up your stats!

so nervous!!

current school: University of Vermont, second semester freshman
GPA: 3.73
courseload: five courses first semester, two intermediate level, three intro, five courses this semester, two intermediate, one senior seminar, two intro
SATS: 2100 (740 cr, 730 writing and 630 math) 780 writing SAT 2, 720 lit and ugh, 620, US History, somehow
major: poli sci
ECs: Intern for Sen. Leahy twelve hours a week (only freshman or sophmore ever to intern, woot woot) co-president of college democrats, member of my school's STAND chapter. Did research for history prof at WUSTL over the summer, hostessed 20 hours/week, interned at the ACLU, taught theatre.
essays: major strength, i wrote my first one in third person about watching my grandmother paint it her brownstone while it rained outside and i devoured the wellesley 80 page packet they sent me to be able to write a specific 'why wellesley' essay.
recs: i've read one, my prof called me one of the smartest people he's met in his 40 years of teaching at UVM and UPenn, my other two, one of the profs taught at wellesley and he said i was intellectually in the top one percent of ppl he'd taught, and the other prof said i was 'wonderfully engaged'
high school: this is what i think might keep me out, 3.34 GPA from a top private prep school in St. Louis with an upward trend culminating in a 4.0 second semester senior year. i wrote an explanation, but i feel as though they might just think that one semester isn't enough time for me to prove myself.
i also think the fact that i didn't take math senior year might keep me out, i took two history classes instead. all in all, i'm really nervous about finding out online, i'm going to be so disappointed if i don't get in, especially because i feel like wellesley is such a good match for me. i also didn't feel like my interviewer really had time to be interviewing me, she interviewed me in her office and was taking notes and interrogating me as to why i was at UVM in the first place and hadn't applied to wellesley last year.

good luck to all of us!! i hope we all get in!!

wow For shaganov~ i think you have GREAT chance of getting in~ you're ECs are amazing too~ don't worry too much~ i'm suree you're gonna get in

for me:

Major: Undecided

courseload:

Intro to Macro

Second Semester
Physics 203 + Lab
Calc I

EC: College Against Cancer, Student Movement Against Cancer
i didn't do much in college as I did in high school

im really nervous too~ i applied last year and then got waitlisted and rejected later.. it was my first choice college
i hope all of us gets in!!

sasson, i'm sure that it will help you that you applied before and that you were waitlisted and not outright rejected, and you have great stats too!

and amavit, i think they mail the decision letters to our homes the same day that they post online, april 13. i've never gotten an admissions decision online, and i can't even imagine how badly i'm going to feel staring at a rejection letter WEBPAGE.

Yeah, I'm kinda dreading the online decision thing... not an easy way to be rejected.

ahhhhh! wellesley decision is coming out in three days... im so nervous...
and i'm gonna be in a lab when the decisions get posted on the web =T

i'm going to be in an independent study for creative writing with a professor who knows the decision is coming out then, has been rooting for me to get in, and has a computer in his office. the awkwardness of not getting in would be crushing.

yeah, I'm going to be in my room surrounded by junk food (to console me if I don't get in).

ahh i know what you girls mean...i am really stressing out about it. i am mad at myself too because when i sent in my application i didn't want to transfer anywhere (my parents were making me), but now I know that I want to go to wellesley sooo badly, yet my essays were kind of ****ty.

yea For Shaganov, I know what you mean. My lab partner, whom I'm not very close with, knows that I'm getting my decision during our lab. So when I go use the computer at our lab and I get rejected... it's going to be sooo awkward for me as well =(
I really hope everything works out well for all of us!

have you found that you're getting more and more worked up about wanting to go just knowing that you're getting your decision soon? one of my friends isn't happy at UVM and i've been talking up wellesley the past couple of days trying to convince her to apply, and it just seems SO COOL, the honor code and all the resources and how much they want their students to explore, change the world, etc, the things people say on the board, yes, including the student teacher relationship thing (I've ALWAYS had things for my male teachers/professors) the fact that the school looks like hogwarts, is the number 4 LAC in the country, is close enough to boston (i would want to bring a car, though...) and is just so clearly bleeding with artsy, passionate people... blech i can't believe i have to go to class here tomorrow morning.... american political systems, listening to my professor talk about his high school pranks for forty minutes and then somehow pretending to relate them to the constitution for the last three....
vent over
and hey-- don't say when you get rejected, say IF! maybe not a lot of people applied to transfer this year.... there are certainly less wellesley transfer posts on this board than most other schools of it's caliber. I applied to eight other schools (overkill, yes, but i'm nervous as hell) what about you? wellesley or bust?
WAIT IS KILLING ME. i live so close to wellesley (2 hours) i really want to go visit my friend there next weekend after having been accepted!
good god i need to go to bed, good luck to all of us!

I noticed the lack of Wellesley posts too... hopefully it is a good sign for all of us fingers crossed

yea.. the only college i applied was wellesley college =(

i've been pretty relaxed (relatively speaking) until today in the middle of my history class i got really, really nervous. if you get in are you going to go visit soon? i'm getting so into this school.... i hope that is mirrored by me so getting into this school! haha, i really hope it works out for all of us too!

same here, I only applied to Wellesley. I told the interviewer that, too. So hopefully it counts for something that Wellesley is the only school I want to go to. I guess I will see tonight....oh god, only a few hours left. Good luck everybody!
