Wellesley vs Wesleyan

With a few weeks to decide on my home for the next four years I am attempting to decide between Wellesley and Wesleyan. With each school having such a unique niche I am having a hard time finding the balance and the “right fit”. With Wellesley I love the professor student relationships, the alumni network, and the personal development. That being said I really dislike the stress culture, how the campus seems to lack energy, how small it is, how isolated or stifling it could feel. With Wesleyan I love the humor, energy, and open curriculum, but feel that it could feel overly liberal or impractical and I’m not a huge fan of the location.

If it helps at all I am a humanities student, interested in international relations, peace and justice studies, and philosophy. During my four years of college I want to get a great education and build a foundation for a high achieving life, but I would also like to have some fun and have fond memories of my college years rather than feel like I just “survived.”

Thanks for all your advice!!!

As a transfer student, I’m trying to make a similar choice right now. Mind sharing what you settled on?

I don’t have a current perspective on Wellesley, I went there many, many years ago.

Although my experience was long ago, I have to say that it never felt isolated or stifling (except during massive snowstorms when everyone is inside anyway). The trip into Boston is easy, there are plenty of things to do on campus, there is a lot of social exchange with MIT and Harvard.
