Welp I screwed over my first semester

Hey guy! New to the forum, but rather anxious :S.
Ok, my first semester of college at penn state went horribly.
My Nikon D80 is lost, My Laptop broke, I got sick various times, once hospitalized, Lost my cellphone, and various other things.
Also i partied way too much and lacked time into studies

Not to mention the worst part of it all, my grades are total garbage....
Out of 15 credits, i got a C in Math 4 (intermediate algebra) because i missed almost every class due to sickness, and missed tests, plus threw up on the final...Shame though because I passed Honors calc with a B in High school.
I also took an extremely hard english course(junior level), and although the grade didnt come out yet, I believe i Either got a C or a D...
Anthropology was a bit tricky for me, due to bad time management, I did not study well. I believe i got a C in it.
The other two classes are A's.

I calculated my GPA and got a 2.5...I really want to raise it, atleast past 3 and further. My far off and wacky dream is law school, but i'm scared of it...
and my family is one of those strict, if you don't get the 4.0, you fail style..
But they let me get away with it this round..
Now, I made a promise to myself, my family, and my girlfriend to do MY BEST and study all the time next semester and take much more easier classes.
Now, considering that this was my first semester, is there any real way to raise my grades up? I really kind of messed up way too badly, and want to do much better, and I wont make the same mistakes.
I am taking roughly 18 credits next semester...but in stuff i enjoy:
-PL SC
-Astro
-Speech
-Math 21 (college algebra)
-Simple english class
-World Literature

I've looked it up and from what i've seen, PSU doesnt do freshman forgiveness, although i May be wrong....
My girlfriend is taking most of the classes with me, due to the fact there gen eds, so she said she could help me, which is good, i guess...
But any other tips on raising my GPA, how I should work/ time management?

Taking so many classes with your girlfriend might be a horrible idea, if you break up...

And you threw up ON the final itself? If I was your professor, I might be tempted to fail you for exposing me to such a pathogen alone

Sorry about your horrible semester...

Naw, we've done the commitment stuff, been going for 4 years, and theres no real signs of breakup...

Yes, i threw up during the final, but not on the test...
Teacher let me go to the bathroom, cleaned the room a bit, but still had to take the test...

were you really hungover? or actually ill?

Actually Ill....

I dont drink much...or even actually at all.
Drank twice first semester and thats really it.

Just a message to ya; we know someone whose son went to a private U and got into the whole partying/gf scheme. His 'rents pulled him out, "grounded" him, and made him go to the local comm. college, THEN transfer to the local state U.

He's now a PhD, after getting his crap straightened out.

The gf didn't last, btw. Not saying yours won't, but don't plan your life on it.

I've had a rotten semester myself (very good chance that I got a C in something, and I've had straight A's throughout HS----and I'm STILL in HS, though not for much longer).

Hmm
Well im really like a here there party type...
Dont do it too often, just when things get too heated and need the break, but honestly...ive only done it once or twice this semester...
I'm seriously not a bad kid, don't do drugs, firmly against premaritial sex, very few times drinking...
Not exactly all the time...

Can we get out of my personal/ relational life? :S Im not exactly comfortable talking about it on the internet if you know what I mean...
The thing about her is that she makes me do my work...she has like a 3.9 GPA, and forces me to do more work, so its not like she's distracting me

Just in: I calculated my GPA for this semester, its actually a 2.94, which is that tad bit better, but not there yet...

Head to the library to avoid distractions, trap yourself there if that's what it takes to get things done. 1-3 hours will do, nothing too much unless you have a major test or assignment. Don't bring your laptop unless you have to.

Study and go somewhere like specify said to like a library where you won't be easily distracted and you can focus on your schoolwork rather and texting or IMing.
