Went to 2 high school Question plz help!

Hi Community,

I am fairly new to this so yeah. Anyways i need some advices here. I went to 2 different high schools. To be specific, I transferred from a public school to a top private school in sophomore year. I am a junior now and I am doing some research on colleges and stuff. I know I need 2 transcripts… But My questions is, Do I need to have 2 separate Guidance Counselor recs? Or is the recommendation from my current GC okay???

Also, Ik this sucks but I was caught cheating in an exam in freshmen year in my public school… Yeah i know it sucks and I learned a valuable lesson from that. And I never dared cheating again. Luckily, my teacher was extremely nice and just gave me a 0 on it and didn't report it. No suspensions, removal, detentions, etc. Nothing. Just a big fat 0, which Im totally fine with because I ended up with a B final avg. which shouldn't raise any red flags. Im extremely grateful for what she did. Anyways I know on the common app that theres like a question about like disciplinary action or something like that. Should I report this incident??? Plz help, I am aiming for top-tier universities btw. If possible I would like to answer "no" to that question b/c I wasn't given any formal disciplinary punishments. Will this incident show on my transcript? And if it does, how would I know? Is the grade marked in red or is there like a big fat "academic dishonesty" written on it??? THANK YOUU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP GUYS. AND PLZ JUST ANSWER THE QUESTIONS AND NOTHING MORE. I srs don't want to be reminded of this nightmare 0_0

You only need a rec from the current one (that’s what I did) and because you didn’t technically have disciplinary action taken you don’t need to report that. As long as the cheating isn’t put on any official records, the colleges wouldn’t know since kids get 0s all the time for different reasons.

If you weren’t given any formal punishment and weren’t suspended or anything, luckily for you, there is no need to report it. Oh, and you only need your current gc rec, not from he previous school. After all, you were there for only one year.

THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS!!! How do i know if it is on my official record? Or can I just assume that its not there cuz i wasn’t given any formal punishment?

And if it is on my official record… does my private school know about it despite it being from another school?? Becuz if its not… then my GC would just put “no” on her rec and then I would have nothing to worry about, since i never told my GC about it… But in general, if one starts a new school, do u have a fresh start or does everything get transferred?

You’d have to ask to see your record to find out. If the teacher didn’t report it, then it shouldn’t be on your record. And everything gets transferred so if there is something the new school would get it. So no, you don’t get a fresh start.
