you didn't get in?
I know that most people who are rejected won't post on CC but I'm still very discouraged.
International applicant in NYC and no email/invitation...

is the email an indicator of acceptance? its hard to tell

I got an email and an acceptance. I don't know if that helps.

it is an acceptance... well its pretty clear...

Dear bbb13

Congratulations! I am very pleased to inform you that your offer of admission to New York University's College of Arts and Science will be mailed to you at the end of March. You can expect to receive a UPS package from our office on or around April 1st. In addition to the offer of admission, you will learn more about the next steps in securing a place in our Class of 2013.

I would like to personally invite you and your parents to join us on Sunday, April 5th for the College of Arts and Science Admitted Student Program at our campus in Washington Square. At this event, you will have the opportunity to meet our students, faculty, and staff. Please make a reservation no later than March 30th at ************

For your convenience, we are also offering programs for admitted students to all of NYU's undergraduate schools and colleges at three locations in Europe this spring. If you would like to join us in London on March 31st, Paris on April 2nd, or Florence on April 4th, please make a reservation by March 20th at ***********8

Congratulations once again. I look forward to seeing you at our event in New York City or at one of our global centers in Europe.

Sincerely,

Barbara Hall
Associate Provost for
Enrollment Management

however i think they send them in waves. orr theyre like "early" or "likelies".. in that only a small percentage of admitted students get them.

see
March 2009

For freshmen applicants, March is a "wait and see" month. In the admissions office, we are busy finalizing admissions decisions, and all decisions - offers of admission, denials, and wait list - will be mailed during the last week of March so as to arrive on or about April 1st. All notification for US postal addresses is by mail; we provide admissions decisions electronically only to students outside the United States.

We have also started to send out invitations to various on- and off-campus events to freshman applicants who will be offered admission later this month. For more information on invitations, click here.

Beginning in late March and extending through April, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions hosts a variety of events both on and away from the NYU campus in New York City for freshmen who will receive offers of admission on or about April 1st. We want to answer in advance the two questions we always receive as invitations to these events start to arrive in mailboxes across the country over the next few weeks.

The first question is: "I received an invitation. Does this mean that I will be offered admission to NYU?" The answer to this question is a resounding "Yes!"

The other question we always receive is "I didn’t receive an invitation. Does this mean I will not be offered admission to NYU?" The answer to this question is "Not necessarily."

There are several reasons why NOT receiving an invitation - yet - does not automatically mean that you will not be offered admission. First, our admissions process continues through the end of March. While we are in the process of finalizing decisions, we must also begin mailing program invitations so that families can make necessary travel arrangements. In other words, we have to begin mailing invitations before we have finished making admissions decisions. Since at this time we are still actively reviewing applicants and making admissions decisions, not receiving an invitation is in no way an indication of an admissions decision. All applicants will receive official admissions decisions notification on or around April 1st.
