I’m really very excited about going to college. I have just over six weeks left and I think I’ll be the first one of my (high school) friends to leave. Even the other state college doesn’t start for another week after us.

I’m really apprehensive about move-in. My dad is not a patient person in the least, so we’ll see how that goes. Luckily I’m not moving into one of the huge dorms, so hopefully things will run more smoothly. I found a video on youtube about Move-In Day at USC and it looked like the perfect storm for my dad’s anger… but we’ll see.

Whenever I’ve gone to camps, I’ve never gotten homesick, but I have called home every day, and I kind of expect that I’ll do that in college. Even my own mother calls her mother every day just to talk, so maybe it’s just a family thing. That being said, I dno’t really expect to miss my family at all… I’m ready to go.

And on top of that, I had no idea that most people were afraid of starting college until I started reading about starting college. Being afraid of not making any friends, not fitting in, etc… none of those have ever really been scary to me. For me, the only scary part about college is the financial part, but that’s always been an issue and will continue to be an issue until I get a good job making good money.
