<p>Andi, because we are all parents (well, ok, Xiggi is not), we all feel for you because it really could be a situation any of us could have been in for one reason or another and NOBODY wants to see their child in any pain or any major disappointment, particularly when the child seems so deserving. You have got to know that we all ache for you as parents as well. But I just have this gut feeling that something good is going to work out if you keep the faith. I can't even recall just where or how many waitlists your son has but I know you must have had him and his GC go to bat on these and I just feel that something, anything, good is going to be at the end of this story and he will look back on this and have been a better person cause of this setback which is only temporary. Kids like yours, are going to go on and do great things. Sometimes things beyond our control happen. As parents, it is very difficult when something happens to our kid that we simply cannot control. It is a bad feeling. But I just know that there is no stopping your kid and he WILL survive and overcome this obstacle that has befallen him. He just will. </p>

I just got back from dinner and found this wonderful thread. I have felt so badly for Andi and her s. this past month. The grace and charm with which she has presented herself on CC while others are enjoying their celebratory bliss is truly remarkable, and a testament to what she, and no doubt her s. are truly made of. I can only aspire to have such class. I join everyone is wishing, hoping and praying for the best. I know it will happen-- I just hope that day is soon, so you and your s can relax and enjoy the summer! We are all pulling for you, Andi!</p>
<p>Andi's son's story has really stayed with me, too. Last night I was at a young alum cocktail gathering (though not a young alum) for my Ivy alma mater. I met the most striking young woman, with whom I chatted for a very long time. She had just finished some great work overseas and had a very interesting job. During the course of the conversation she told me she was wait listed. During the summer she was called out of the blue and asked if she wanted a spot. She did nothing except write her local interviewers to tell them of her graduation and honors and thank them. Here's hoping that happens to Andi's S. Sometimes the stars and moon align and good things happen to good people.</p>

<p>I don't know about you guys, but I'm feeling really confident that Andi's S will get more than one opportunity to get off of a waitlist this summer. He is just too neat of a kid for these colleges to pass by... they will come to their senses yet! Best wishes, Andi, and may the resolution come sooner rather than later.</p>
