Were your ACT Scores Better than Expected?

I took the act practice test about a year ago and got a 27. Then I took another 4 months ago got a 34, and I took one 3 weeks ago and just got my results and got a 35. I have yet to take the real test, but Ive been told that the practice tests were just previous versions from more than 2 years ago, so Im hoping that I’m getting into a trend. My Reading and Science scores were both 36, my math was 33, and my english writing combo was 32. It seems like the reading and science tests really just take time management and careful reading. The answers are all there and you just need to find them. Good luck!!

Yeah my scores turned out a lot higher than expected. On my practice tests I was scoring about 33 average but on the real thing somehow I got 35. (There was lots of joyful screaming involved when I saw that, lol.)

Sally what impact did the June SAT timing error have on scoring?

I scored a 32 in February of Sophomore year and a 34 in March of Junior year. No prep either time. Every section but math improved by a couple of points, but this was merely from learning and familiarity in my opinion.

Went to a prep place once or twice a week for four months and crammed like crazy a week before the test. Went from a 31 to a 35 so I’m pretty happy.

I took about 2 practice tests in the Real ACT Book. I kept getting 32’s and 33’s, and on the actual ACT I got a 34 on my first try. Am still trying to find a way to get a 36, but I think I’m all set with a 34.

No. My predicted score was a 30-33 based on the offical PLAN test, and I got a 28. Not awful, but I really want a 30 this time around.

I’m hoping that something similar will happen with me, since I consider myself a good test taker.

The september 2015 test reflected the Real ACT book perfectly. Got 33 in both. But the essay was different. I got a 28 but i averaged 9-10 on the old one.

I took w/o studying and got a 33C, which was a pleasant surprise. I was hoping for a 30

I read through the Underground Guide to the ACT and did two practice ACTs out of the Princeton review book. I was averaging a 32 on the practice tests and got a 36 on the real thing

I studied a LOT and used the Real ACT Prep guide. I kept getting 33s and 34s on the practice tests (mainly from doing badly on the reading section). I got like 5 hours of sleep the night before the actual ACT and thought I did extremely badly (had to completely guess on the last four science section questions), but I ended up getting a 35… Apparently, when I think I did well on a test, I fail, but if I think I did badly, I do well.

So jealous of the people who just roll out of their bed on Saturday morning and get 36s on their first ever ACT…

A mixed example: On one hand, I expected 33-34 composite in practice tests, but I got a 35 in September ACT; on the other hand, I expected at least 2X in writing, but I got a 17… Going to retake it this Saturday in an attempt to improve my writing score.

Was consistently scoring 32/33s on official practice tests before actual test day. Got a 34…higher than any of the practice tests I ever took (took 15-17 tests).

Much more easier? No wonder you did not do as well as expected on English or Reading.

26 ACT much better than 1530 SAT (3 tests)

This was my first ACT and I took no prep classes and didn’t study, so I had no idea what to expect. I got a 31, so yaay! Might try again to get a 33 or something, not sure.

Yes, my scores surprised me. It seems that I do better whenever I do not pay too much attention to the exam

three people in my Spanish class got a 36
