I got in! yay! Anyone else heard anything?

congratulations...i am going RD....

Congrats, WMass, great news! You were concerned about your SAT scores -- would you mind sharing them? How many letters of rec did you end up sending?

Thank you Skie :-) My SATs were 1900 and I sent three letters (2 humanities/social science teachers and 1 science teacher).

My son received his acceptance today. We are ecstatic.Anyone know if parents attend Wesfest? (not that I have cleared this with my son yet as he is planning to attend solo). We are on West coast and feel Wesleyan and our son are a perfect match.Hooray.

My son is a freshman at Wes and was accepted RD. There are programs and seminars for parents but most of WesFest is for the kids. I attended a few workshops and left him overnight -- went to visit friends in CT. Congrats, mamamax.

My daughter received her acceptance packet yesterday. Needless to say she is very excited. We're in Atlanta

Congrats from the mom of a Wes alum! She loved it there!

yes! I got in too.

me too! Does anyone here have a facebook and know if there is a Wesleyan class of 2011 group where we can all start mingling?

was anyone else surprised that they got in? I had a score of 630 on the SAT math section, while the median for the school is at 710 or something like that. I know one score shouldn't affect the entire package, but I guess it gives hope to others out there still applying that these colleges (at least Wes) are not basing admission soley on raw numbers.

Same here, J-Rob--I also scored below Wesleyan's average on the Math SAT. I think it's really cool that they look beyond your numbers and see what kind of person you are. After this whole experience, I get the feeling the interview is really important for Wesleyan, or at least more important than it is at some similar schools.

And there is a facebook group. It's called "Wesleyan Class of 2011" (whoda thunk it?). http://hs.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2223869858

To the mom wondering about WesFest. You could come and take a tour and visit and whatnot, but he'll probably wander off on his own pretty soon and be perfectly fine.

A note about Wesfest-- The university will not arrange housing for you if you're not RD (it is, after all, a way to entice students that may otherwise choose another school). HOWEVER, this shouldn't discourage you at all, as it's very, very simple to find housing-- Wes students notoriously adore their prefrosh. Many ED students arrange housing with current students through the Wesleyan livejournal community (http://wesleyan.livejournal.com), others just show up the day of and find somewhere to sleep. As you're on the West Coast and might be a little nervous about this, contact me and I can help-- I'm female but I live in a fraternity (it's a long story), and I'm sure one of the brothers could help, or he could even just stay with me. xsun@wesleyan.edu

And on that note, PLEASE come to Wesfest, even if you're ED. I had the time of my life as a prefrosh, and here the undergrads get more excited for Wesfest than they do for Christmas.

Thank you kindly for the offer. My son made friends on his overnight visit and they have also offered him accomodations.

just a quick comment-- wesleyan publishes the MEDIAN sat scores. meaning that exactly half of attendees got lower scores than the median.

no need to be surprised you got in!
