Wesleyan 2025 RD

Did anyone who got waitlisted ED 1 hear back? I was hoping for an email or somethingšŸ˜£

son accepted!!! so excited as Wes is one of his top choices! congrats and good luck all!

Thrilled my daughter got in today but am discouraged to read that campus still isnā€™t open for in-person tours or visitors. Does anyone have any insider info if that will change before May 1 or if exceptions would be made for admitted students who have literally never stepped foot on the campus ā€” or CT or New England?

Donā€™t worry. Itā€™s beautiful. Especially in the fall

Find a place to park downtown, wear a mask and just walk around (wear comfortable shoes.) If you stay on the public sidewalks (which means, you donā€™t get to see the central quad), no one will bother you.

Agree. We did that last summer and even with an empty campus it helped.

ā€œD21 accepted to Wesleyan. Grateful to have another option; however, admittedly, this one was the least researched. STEM major, dancer, writer. What made you apply? Pros/Cons?ā€

The majors at Wesleyan are all going to be good, I do think the popular majors tend to be more humanities, social sciences - econ, English etc. It would depend on other colleges being considered.

Does anyone know how many applicants Wes had this year and how many were offered admission?

This year, Wesleyan received a total of 13,145 first-year applications across all rounds. The admission committee has offered a place in the Class of 2025 to 2,536 students and we are looking forward to welcoming them as members of the next class!

Based on this, Wesleyan has planned for an admission yield of no greater than ~31%. At this stage this seems like a low bar to have set, and suggests that Wesleyan anticipates a chaotic year in admissions across colleges generally.

@Kovilen12 Based on Wesā€™ Common Data Set for 2020-21, they didnā€™t see a huge increase in applications. Last year they received 12,632 applications, so they only got 513 more applications this year. Last year they accepted 2630 students (460 of them ED), so they took about 100 more students last year. I wonder if theyā€™ve waitlisted more students. They did take 133 students off the waitlist last year. It will be interesting to see how things play out. https://www.wesleyan.edu/ir/data-sets/CDS_2020-2021.pdf

Itā€™s hard to imagine things being more chaotic this year than last when Wesleyan essentially had to second-guess the applications of hundreds of international students. My sense is that Wesleyan tends to prefer the risk of over-accepting to going to the waitlist when things look ā€œchaoticā€.

Also, letā€™s not forget that big increases in applications often occur at places the first year they introduce test-optional admissions, as happened at many selective colleges this year. Wesleyan has been test-optional for years, so it did not experience the same magnitude of bump in applications.

Hereā€™s a poll to report your results! (Sorry for the lateness!)

Just got a personalized email from my AO! Nice touch! Anyone else set on going to Wes?
