Thanks for your thoughts, guys.

3.6 GPA from top 10 LAC (This factor alone might as well get you in :) )...also not too shabby on that SAT score I might well say.

Avg. SAT score of a Wesleyen attendee 2170.

damn those kids are smart. I'm glad they allow tests taken during college...or else I'd be average.

why do u guys wanna apply to wesleyan?

bcuz it's the ****.

If Wesleyan's transfer admissions rate were 10%, would you guys still apply?

wesleyan is full of hippies! oh hell no!!! lol

I definitely would. Are you kidding? Wesleyan is like utopia for a gay guy. I definitely have other reasons for applying, but I won't go into them here. btw, hipsters (there is a difference!) are the greatest people ever.

hipsters? what the?? more like HIPpies lol :p

lol brand, your SAT and ACT are over the roof....

If Wesleyan's transfer admissions rate were 10%

Yes, only because I feel my reasons for wanting to attend are strong enough that my essays would get me in.

But the fact that it's 40% really does make Wesleyan the perfect school in every way...except for the +/- system. :(

LOL, I hate hipsters. Take your superiority and black plastic glasses frames somewhere else, TYVM.

CollegeBoard's figures make it sound like Wesleyan's transfer admit rate is closer to 22%. Maybe everyone saw they were accepting 40% and then raced to apply, thereby screwing themselves over.

crap that's what happened bitsy. I'm still applying for sure, but it's definitely gone down.

well, the good thing is that they admitted roughly the same number of transfers (about 15 less)...they just got a lot more applicants.

do you think that this is going to affect my chances all that much?

they're still accepting about the same amount of students, so do you think i still stand sort of a chance?

I think you've still got a chance.

Wesleyan is one of those schools that's really focused on admitting the students that really want to go, I think. Most of their student body is also "self-selecting" in a way, so they can tell when a student is using them as a safety to Harvard or something or when that person really wants to go.

brand, would you go to wesleyan if you get into cornell or something?

I plan on visiting each school I'm admitted to first.

But as things stand now, Wesleyan is my first choice, along with Brown. Wes is much more of a possiblity though, so I see myself at Wes next year more than anywhere.

I agree w Brand. If youo're transferring from another >10 LAC, it shows that you are really interested in Wes because you've seen what the rest look like. I'm serious.

john - I know quite a bit about the university already from the website and other resources. UChicago is cool in that it has a student viewbook that really goes in depth as to what Chicago is about. Does Wesleyan have anything like that that you know of or could you direct me to resources where I could learn more about the college?
