wesleyan chances

ok so im really falling in love with wesleyan and im wondering what my chances are. my hs stats are not great, but i've really improved since (more and more since freshman year, junior year i had around a 91 average). i also had really good ECs in high school, many of which revolved around teaching and children, such as student teaching, summer camps, a teaching program, and many more. and i was the president of a community service club. here are the stats.

HS
around a 3.4 unweighted GPA (not great i know)
4 AP classes senior year (not a small amount)
610w 620m 660v

College (fairly notable although not great)
GPA i think i can manage a 3.7 but at least 3.6
EC's i've been volunteering at a school downtown twice a week and im going to start teaching my own class there next semester a few times a week
some random hillel events

so what do you guys think? any other suggestions? i have good recs and hopefully a good essay, and i will interview and everything. do i have a shot?

you have a similar HS GPA as I did, weaker HS courseload, weaker test scores, and a slightly weaker GPA though where you're applying from is a relevant factor. I think you've got a decent shot as Wes really looks at the entire app and focuses on expressed interest. The transfer acceptance rate last year was 22% and it seems that most people came from other LACs or state schools. Let me know if you have any other question as I'm willing to help you along the way.

yeah i actually have a few questions about wesleyan. i dont know too much about it, i only visited a few years ago. was it a really difficult transfer? how was the transition. tell me anything you know about it. likes and dislikes. i dont want to end up at the wrong place. and im glad you think i have a shot, because i know its a really good school.

My grandfather went to Wesleyan, do you think that I would have any better chance because of him?

grandchildren are definitely considered "legacies". yes, it's a hook.

my test scores are not comparable to Wesleyan's ideal. However, my GPA by the semester should be a 3.91. Considering I'm a legacy and my GPA is very good, what do you think my chances are? Also, my ECs are very good right now. I'm actively involved in four clubs and I have been a bank teller for the past two years.

I emailed Wesleyan a couples days ago.
Here is the response I received from them:
"Your transcript and Essay hold more weight than you standardized scores.
Your alumni relation may help you, but even more than that, you high GPA
will be worth much, as well as your involvement in the community."

Also, they told me that they do not require SAT subject tests for transfers. Should I give it a shot or is it not even worth it?

i would love to tell you its not worth it because you're my competition, but why would it not be? you have a great GPA, and if you like the school, i dont see teh downside. give it a shot

thanks milkdud. good luck
