Jessephen, I would say that your daughter should keep the hope alive, a la Obama, because while it is somewhat disconcerting that the valedictorian has already been accepted, #3 is not that far away in reality, and I know for a fact that Wes is trying to expand its class size, from 715 to 745, beginning with '13.

I admit that I believe I am the only student from my school who applied to Wes, and they will definitely be comparing applicants from the same school.

On the other hand, I wish I had gotten a letter praising my essay! envious lol

Jessephen - Similar story at our house. My guess is that your D (and my S) will be admitted -- obviously their applications made a positive impression when initially reviewed!

I got my acceptance letter from Wesleyan last week, so... yay. All this ranking stuff weirds me out. Our school is enormous and has multiple magnets, so it would be impossible to have a #1, and if we did, it would be the kid with the 4.0 and 2400 who takes 8 APs a year and self-studies 8 or 9 more (we have several of those). I've only got a 3.94, 2240 and 9 APs total, so I doubt I'd even be top 10 if we did rank...

Only by GPA...? That's ridiculous. I can see not including SAT, but someone who gets a 4.0 with all honors classes is NOT the same as someone who gets a 4.0 taking mostly APs (we weight both the same, which is odd already).

Anyway, if that's the case, we'd have a bunch of #1s.

neethus- yeah, well... I'm completely comfortable with my stats. Better than the majority, I'm sure. But there are always those kids with the absolutely insane stats who make me look like a total slacker in comparison...

Actually, I kind of wish our school did rank. I'd be interested to see how I'd do.

Congrats to everyone!! I'm still waiting on my decicion, Im not expecting anything at all but it will be nice to finally just know what my options are. Best of luck to everyone else also waiting on their decicions! Does anyone have stats on how many people were accepted in early writes?

Yeah, my school ranks on UW GPA. So anyone, no matter how many honors or AP's, is number one as long as they have straight A's. To be Valedictorian you have to take a total of 4 AP or Honors classes.

Note: my school is a crapshoot for future community college dropouts.

I find it funny how the accepted students need to include the 3 SAT sections AND the total score. Anyone going to Wesleyan (one of the most prestigious universities in the US) should be able to figure that one out :-)

Yes, I saw the template. I just think it's a tad humorous that the total score was even asked for when the three subscores were included. Just add them up. You're Wesleyan students!
