decision: Accepted

objective:
sat i (breakdown):First try: 2320 Math: 800 CR: 770 W:750
sat ii (if submitted): US History 800 Math II 800
unweighted gpa (out of 4.0): 3.6ish after first semester senior year. Upward trend?
rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): At least top 15%, but school sends nothing of ranking or percentile
ap (place score in parenthesis): Euro History (4), Lang (4), Calc (5), Macro (4)
ib (place score in parenthesis):NA
senior year course load: Most rigorous
major awards (usamo, intel etc.): Top 2% in a national art competition, scholastic art gold (top 10%) and silver keys (top 15-20%) for my region, state winner for a national constitution essay contest, Blue ribbon at State public speaking contest, Honorable delegate at ILMUNC, Outstanding Delegate at BMUN

[ b]subjective:**
extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Art Magazine (Co-President), Model UN (Vice President but did a LOT to change the club, including the hosting new high school conferences which I created. I wrote out entire topic guides and directed the committees. Ughhhh school elections are such popularity contests :c), Amnesty International (Vice President), School news writer for school newspaper for 4 years, Politics Club (President), Cofounded an art club for a large county organization
job/work experience: Interned for a local congresswoman, was a delegate for an ngo at a big un conference, started my own baking business for a short while (didn’t mention but gc said she did?)
volunteer/community service: ehhh little over 100 hours?
essays: Choppy, but unique subject. Touching, and very “me”
teacher recommendation: dunno
counselor rec: glowing…said it was an honor to be my gc and that I was among the most outstanding she’d seen in all her decades of experience as a guidance counselor
additional rec: art teacher…dunno if wesleyan accepted it on the common app though?
interview: none

other
applied for financial aid?: yes
intended major: Art
state (if domestic applicant): NJ
country (if international applicant):
school type: Large public…somewhat competitive?
ethnicity: Asian
income bracket: high enough that I didn’t get FA
hooks (urm, first generation college, research, etc.): nada

reflection
strengths: Art awards, art supplement, Scores, some of my activities, I really liked my essay but that might be subjective, probably gc rec
weaknesses: GPA, possibly teacher recs, GPA, AP scores, GPA, sat score wasn’t special at a school like the one I go to, GPA
why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I think I’m a good “fit” for the school. I love learning but I’m laid back and not really cut-throat. I’m a free-thinker, incredibly liberal, “artsy”…which are all stereotypes of the school haha. Wesleyan isn’t my absolute first choice but I am really happy and taken aback about being accepted, just because my gpa was so awful and I can imagine myself fitting in there and having a lovely college experience.

**Decision: Accepted **

reflection
strengths:
weaknesses:
why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I applied to Wesleyan after going to their TAP program this fall, so I would highly, highly recommend any prospective students to apply and get a chance to go there because it shows a high level of interest. (And a free plane ticket and free food, 'twas rad.)

decision: Accepted

objective:
sat i (breakdown): 1980 (didn’t send)
act: 31
sat ii (if submitted): we’re not going to bring those up
unweighted gpa (out of 4.0): 4.0

essays: 10/10, probably one of the best essays I have ever written
teacher recommendation: the first one was perfect, the second one paled in comparison to the perfect first one
counselor rec: 9/10, I read one that she sent somewhere else and it was amazing, but I didn’t read the one she submitted for the common app
additional rec: 10/10, letter from the superintendent of my school district who knows me personally
interview: n/a

other
applied for financial aid?: yes
intended major: English
state (if domestic applicant): Alabama
country (if international applicant):
school type: public noncompetitive
ethnicity: white
gender: male
income bracket: $100,000ish
hooks (urm, first generation college, research, etc.): I don’t know about hooks lol

reflection
strengths: recommendations, essays, a LOT of involvement in extracurricular stuff (there’s way more stuff that is specific to my high school that I didn’t include up there ^^)
weaknesses: maybe my test scores? I know my ACT is pretty average for Wesleyan so I don’t think my test scores were a weakness or a strength
why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: white male from the south who is actually very liberal; good essays; good recommendations; I honestly think that a big reason they accepted me is that only like 5% of their students are from the south but ya know!

Decision: Accepted

Objective:
SAT I (breakdown): 2280 (superscored); highest- M 720, CR 800, W 760
ACT: 34 (superscored 35)
SAT II (if submitted): a few 700s, but highest are- 770 BioE, 750 BioM, 750 Chem, 720 Math II

Major awards (usamo, intel etc.): None

Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Model congress- a few different conferences (MUSS, MUN United Netherlands, HMCE, MEP; International Model European Parliament Conference VP); NHS (President); Student Council (Vice President); Class Council (President, 2xSecretary, Treasurer over the years); Scouting (Eagle Scout, 3xPatrol Leader [akin to committee chair], 2xSenior Patrol Leader [equiv. to President], Order of the Arrow [Scouting’s honor society]); Varsity tennis; Varsity track (captain year 12); LEO service club (founder and President)
Job/work experience: Not allowed by parents.
Volunteer/community service: Common App doesn’t let you place hours, but I do a lot of service. Started a LEO club at school, NHS Pres, Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow, etc.
Essays: Common App essay was very good, I suppose; the supplement was alright.
Teacher recommendation: Not allowed to see.
Counselor rec: Not allowed to see.
Additional rec: Not allowed to see.

Other:
Applied for financial aid?: Yes; got a decent package.
Intended major: Social sciences/gov/politics/undecided
State (if domestic applicant): Air Force overseas dependent
School type: Federally operated public international school (DoDDS)
Ethnicity: White (Irish and German ancestry)
Gender: Male
Income bracket: 120,000
Hooks (urm, first generation college, research, etc.): I went to TASP, if that counts.

Strengths: Good range of interests but definite achievement in a few that are important to me. My writing is usually very good (though I haven’t applied for any Golden Key/Silver Key things or whatever they are) and I stick with what I start. I think my odd blend of being a US citizen but living overseas (but not a wealthy expatriate) might have made me a little less BWRKy and more attuned to global issues. I wrote about international cooperation and talked a lot about my experiences as a military kid.
Weaknesses: Scores and lack of major awards.

When do more decisions come out???
