Wesleyan- ED 1 2016

Firstly, best of luck to all ED 1 applicants. I was wondering if anyone has any information regarding how many ED1 applicants applied this year? Also, any word on the date the decsions are released?

If this year is same as last, then we would probably receieve an email around Dec 7th about the exact time the decisions will be released online. Good Luck All! ^^

Actually, last year Wesleyan Early Decision I candidates were notified by email at 12 noon on the second Monday of December. So, if things work the same as last year, look for an email on Monday, December 12.

I remember this so clearly because my son, who was an ED1 applicant last year gave me a call on Monday, December 13 just as I was leaving a parking garage during rush hour in downtown San Francisco. He opened the conversation by saying (in a very sad-sounding tone), “Dad, Wesleyan sent me the email this afternoon.” And I asked, “So what did they say?”, and he replied, “We’ll talk about it when you get home.” “But what was it, WHAT WAS IT?”, I demanded to know.

Just then I smashed into the rear end of a brand new black Acura SUV. I hung up the phone, got out, exchanged information with the slightly upset young engineer who observed a healthy dent in his week-old car.

It took an hour to get home through the heavy traffic and my mind anxiously swung from one emotion to the next. His voice sure did not sound very happy. “Why was he rejected? What went wrong? What will he do now?”.

When I entered the house, it was dark and quiet, with only my son’s bedroom light on in his room upstairs. I nervously called out to him, and said, “What happened? What did they say”, racing upstairs to his bedroom. There he sat, head in hands, staring dejectedly down at the floor. He reached over to his desk and handed me the letter from the Admissions Office which began, “Congratulations! It gives me great pleasure, on behalf of the Admissions Committee and the Wesleyan faculty, to offer you admission to the Class of 2015…”.

I wish each of you the best of luck as you await the arrival of that special email in two weeks. Having just visited my son at Wesleyan Homecoming three weekends ago, I have to say I have never seen him happier in his life. But as he also said, “I think wherever I had been admitted, I would have made that the best choice for me.” Have fun with the college admissions process, no matter what the outcomes, and keep in mind that you are starting a wonderful journey that will almost certainly end with you finally being admitted to exactly the right school for you, whether or not it seems to be the case initially.

Any news for anyone???
