Wesleyan Question

I am from Atlanta and was told that Wesleyan (an hour south of here) was an excellent choice - especially for psychology. Good reputation, small classes, and a faculty that is interactive with their students. As I went on the net to find out more, I was surprised to see that there are Wesleyan campuses in a number of states.

What is up with this?

Wesleyan is a word that is derived from the last name of John Wesley and from the Wesley family. Basically, they invented Methodism. That explains why so many colleges contain the name Wesleyan -- they were originally founded by Methodists. This particular site is probably reserved for Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, the oldest U.S. college with that name.

The women's college in Georgia is known as Wesleyan COLLEGE -- a subtle difference -- but, a useful one to remember.

Thanks for the info.

Is there a list anywhere that compares the various Wesleyan colleges in regard to their Psychology programs?

I would suggest using the CC search engine and plugging in the word "psychology" and see what comes up. If you are specifically interested in Methodist colleges, your best bet is to start with the USNews ranking systems and see what other schools are in the same general "tier" as Wesleyan College (GA); there may be a few other Wesleyans out there that are in the same tier. Off the top of my head, Nebraska Wesleyan may be one of them. But, you should check it out.
