Wesleyan reviews

I’m a transfer deciding between Wesleyan and Connecticut College with a scholarship. I will be studying English, creative writing, religious studies, and American studies. Would love to learn more about Wes, especially in these areas. Any help is appreciated!

Maybe this is a violation of the CC policy and I’ll be banned :-). But @circuitrider knows a lot about Wes academics.

Thanks, @EganAg. Connecticut College was founded by a group of Wesleyan alumna who were disappointed by the Middletown school’s decision to revert back to all-male status after a nearly half-century “experiment” in co-education that ended in 1911. Some sixty years later, both schools would find themselves embracing co-education once again although Wesleyan, to this day, has better gender parity. OTOH, “Conn” benefitted from being built all at once - or, at least with one style consistent with a specific time period. (the 1920s) whereas the buildings at Wesleyan are famous for their “Rome-wasn’t-built-in-a-day” eclecticism.

I don’t think you can go wrong academically at either school, although my sense is that Wesleyan, being the bigger institution, brings a bit more depth and breadth to some of the subjects listed by the OP.

@NESCACtransfer Which college did you choose?
