I know, I know... they are so different. However, I was offered money at BU, but I'm being recruited to play lacrosse at Wes. I want to do International Relations, so Boston would be great... any opinions?

Are you eligible for FA from Wes? The differential in overall experience between the two schools is so great that I wouldn't let an IR concentration be the deciding factor (you'll get more than you need in terms of IR at Wes.)

No, I did not apply for financial aid at all. My parents will be able to pay for my education regardless, but BU would be more comfortable. I'm a cheerleader from Texas who loves shopping and hanging out with friends. I don't smoke or drink or party. I've been told that Wes is not the place for me. How true is this?

Depends on how you define "party". Wesleyan has a handful of traditional frat/sororities that will throw open their doors (or, as will more likely be the case, take over the new ballroom in the refurbished Fayerweather for a night) for raucous carousing. But, for the most part, partying at Wesleyan means a little wine and cheese, some fondue with your friends and whomever else might drop by. There are people who drink (and do other things) but there's absolutely no peer pressure to do any of them. Believe me, there is plenty of room to be a shrinking violet at Wesleyan.

I don't drink or smoke, but there's always something to do on weekends. From going out to eat, watching movies, traveling to NYC, and seeing various performances, I'm not bored very much. Sometimes, I'll go to parties w/ friends that do drink and I'll still have a good time. Don't let that stop you from coming to Wes. Most schools will have many students that drink/smoke...

Hmm well Wes is a lot better school than BU, but from your description you seem like you'd be happier at Boston University.

Wes ** IS ** a lot better than BU. BU is kind of like a UW-Madison in Boston with Harvard prices.

great academics + great lacrosse = Wes

Yeah, the girls lax team here kicks some serious tail!

all 10 NESCAC women's lacrosse teams are ranked in the top 25 nationally (Hamilton lax is a different conference), with Wes #13... not bad I'd say

I think they beat Bowdoin a few weeks ago, and it's ranked pretty high up there (if it's not 1). I think they were undefeated before that, talk about a cardinal upset!
