Wesleyan??

Hey everyone, i know i already posted about this but...is anyone waiting on Wes? I'm so nervous and am just wondering what i was up against/if anyone has heard yet. but it doesnt seem like that many ppl here applied....?

Hi kitkat,

I'm fairly sure you know my D at MHC. She's transferring, too, and just got her acceptance package from Barnard (her top choice) yesterday. Fittingly, it was the day she left the MHC campus to fly home to Arizona!

I wish I had some encouraging news for you since I know how difficult the wait can be. D was constantly calling to ask me if anything had come in the mail or to see if there was any other news.

She shared the essay you wrote about the MHC-Amherst relationship and I thought it was great. It really gave me an appreciation as to what she's been going through the last year. If your applications reflected the same impressive writing ability, you have a wonderful shot at getting into Wes.

Good luck!

Aww, yup, that's me! Thats so nice to hear from you on here! Yeah I think A and I have had pretty simliar experiences at MHC this year, and it's too bad it didnt work out, but that's great that she got into Barnard!!! I'll have to give her a call to congratulate her. Thank you for your encouragement!

PCAZ...im waiting on Barnard too..what were your daughters STAT's?

Als: I try not to give too much info out on my D online, but suffice it to say that Barnard was a reach for her. From what I understand, they're sending out the acceptances in stages. It could be a good sign that you haven't heard from them since they seemed to have sent the rejections first. Please let me know how it goes.

kitkat: A told me you called her. She is so excited! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and hopefully you'll have some great news from Wes very soon. Hang in there!

Yup, I'm waiting on Wesleyan as well. It's the only school to which I applied.

brad im sure you should be accepted

bradknicks, what year are you and what school did you apply from?

I'm applying as a Sophomore (completed one year of college) from Northeastern University.

Well, i just got my rejection from Wesleyan today. I'm in CT so whoever didn't hear yet will probably hear on Monday. They only accepted 60 applicants out of 300 (slightly over 20%). I really don't know what i'm going to do next year...good luck to everyone.

Well, I was offered a spot on a "small, unranked waitlist" :( :( :(

Rather than sending back the form choosing to accept my spot or not, I promptly ripped up the letter and the response card and threw them on the ground (later I put the pieces in the trash). In retrospect, it might have been a good idea to at least accept the spot on the waiting list, but I gotta say----I was absolutely heartbroken (and still am). Being rejected from most colleges after High School was ok because I didn't deserve to be accepted back then, but being rejected after trying my absolute hardest last year is just an awful feeling.

Anyway, sorry you were rejected too. Apply anywhere else?

I did not receive a letter yet. I expect rejection soon. I live on the west coast.

did anyone get an acceptance letter today? silent lurkers, now is your time to speak.

kitkat, I'm so sorry to hear that. But you also applied to Tufts, correct? I'll be very surprised if you don't get an acceptance from them. I know it's a long, grueling wait, but hang in there!

bradknicks, i know how you feel...I am pretty heartbroken as well. I didn't do very well in highschool freshman and soph. year and then turned everything around junior year and got straight As through graduation. I also worked my ass off this past year and got great grades, got involved in a lot of stuff at school, and so it hurts to see nothing come from that. The only other school I applied to was Tufts, which was just on a whim and I don't really want to go there anyway. Expecting rejection from them too. I might go to Spain for a semester and then apply to a bunch of schools, who knows. What are you going to do next year brad, since Wes was the only place to which you applied? Pcaz, thanks :)

kitkat, hey, i'm at umass. howdy, neighbor. i know how you guys both feel; i did miserably in high school and worked my ass off to try to make up for lost time. but anyway, mt. holyoke is a great school. worst comes to worse, you still have the comfort of having a really good education (even without the guys :) ). every girl that i've met from that school so far has been really intelligent, determined, and all around put together. be glad that you're not stuck with beer-guzzling abercrombie types, running and shouting on the premises till 6 am, leaving puke piles in front of your door. (seriously). hehe

janel, thanks, I feel your pain! I've actually never been to any parties at UMASS but i've been to enough at UCONN to know how that goes...Mt. Holyoke is a great education, but feels a lot like a nunnery most of the time (with a lot of lesbians)!!! Where did you apply to transfer?

alot of places (i don't feel like i'm going to get in anywhere): tufts, wesleyan, brown, amherst, etc by a couple. by the way, i'm from ct, too. i'm from west hartford, what part are you from?

sounds like a good group of schools...i'm from New Haven. Good luck!

waitlisted
