West Campus housing

Oh my! Was this today? As far as I know this did not happen last year. Housing is stressful enough - I am so sorry to hear of this!

^^^
Yes, today after the lottery had already started. I feel sorry for the kids who might have difficulty rearranging their schedules on short notice to accommodate their new time slots.

Cornell has one of the best CS departments. You would think that they could put it to good use. Their admission portal used to crash all the time. Sorry to hear that. It must be very stressful.

Last year it crashed for course enroll. It was pretty stressful! Good luck today!

Lol, delayed AGAIN. What a stupid system.

Answering my own question – no, it will not be fixed in 24 hours.

Room selection has been bumped back 48 hours from the original times. From the housing website:

Due to unforeseen technical issues, the housing portal is currently inoperable. Room Selection will not occur today, March 4, 2013 or tomorrow, March 5, 2013. All Room Selection timeslots will be pushed back 48 hours. If your timeslot was today, March 4 at 5pm, your timeslot will now be Wednesday, March 6 at 5:00pm. If your timeslot was Monday, March 4 at 5:20pm, your timeslot will now be Wednesday, March 6 at 5:20pm. This pattern follows for all other timeslots - just add 48 hours to your originally assigned timeslot. This will continue through the week through Sunday, if necessary.

That must be stressful for the kids (and parents) who are worried about housing. I’m glad that mine is done. Internal room selection for program housing was a couple weeks ago. He had the second to last slot in the internal lottery, but he still got what he wanted (I am sure it isn’t the biggest single in Risley, but it will be bigger than the tiny one he had this year with the closet across the hall).

DD got 2nd day 5 o’clock slot, but one of her friend did get 1st day 6.40 slot so she was able to pull and block everyone in her group today. too bad by the time they log in to housing nothing avail on west campus house for five/suit. so they settle down at Uzema program house. at least they all get to live in the same suit.DD says good way of thinking is that she don’t have to pay extra for house unlimited meal plan and she can just catch a bus right on North campus on school break. I am upset that she didn’t got her first choice but am happy that this is all over and she has a place to live next year :)

I’m a transfer, sophomore and haven’t seen the housing. I think I get guaranteed housing on west campus. I’m coming to visit during my spring break to see the options. Any thoughts?

So is west campus generally seen as the best dorming? Which one is closest to engineering?

^
Collegetown

AFter living on North Campus as freshmen, I would think West or Collegetown would be a welcome change. It’s about a mile from the end of freshmen dorms to the engineering quad.
