West Chester University of PA: BA w/ MT concentration

This school is on The (geocities) Big List, but do not see it on the CC MT list. Any thoughts/impressions re: the BA w/ emphasis in MT would be appreciated. Thanks.

Use the "Search" function and see what you get. I recall this school being discussed a bit on the MT Forum. I also have had a student apply as a safety school.

Please know that the list at the top of the MT Forum is NOT a "suggested BFA programs" or "best programs" or "most well known programs" list. Not all the schools that offer a BFA or BM or BA in MT have their own sub forum on the MT Forum. The sub forums were created as an organizational tool to file existing school discussions into their own forums, particularly schools that had a fair amount of threads/discussion. So, when looking for schools, do not rely on that list alone. I can see that you do know about the FAQ link to the BIG LIST of schools that offer MT degrees. Also, uses the "Search" and type in the topic or school and choose from the Search menu which forum you wish to search on CC and see what has already been discussed. I do recall discussions of this school here.

Hi KeystoneMom -- (I'm a Keystone Mom too, but from the northeast part of the state.) Since you are obviously looking for schools in PA, just wanted to alert you to Wilkes University -- they also have a BA with MT emphasis -- audition is required. I don't recall ever seeing it mentioned on this forum; I have attended the auditions with several students, and would be glad to give you details if you are interested.

Hi onstage-Thanks for the tip on Wilkes-funny, 2 of my brothers went to Wilkes undergrad! So I had heard about their MT. We are open to schools up and down E Coast but it never hurts to explore close to home, hence my question on W Chester, since we are outside of Philly. I will remember to ask you if my D considers Wilkes. Thanks!!!

My D considered West Chester. Is a BA in theatre (no audition) and after 1 yr you then are placed in MT or remain in theatre. For the 1st yr you get no voice lessons. After that if accepted into MT you get group lessons. PM me if you want
