Asking this for a young friend. Can anyone recommend their favorite west coast colleges for a strong student? Thanks in advance.

University of San Diego has a beautiful campus overlooking Mission Bay

[College Profiles - University of San Diego](http://www.collegeprofiles.com/sandiego.html)

Is money an issue?

I wish I had more info here, but I think money may be an issue.

Checking out U San Diego.

Occidental, Pepperdine, Chapman, UC Santa Barbara, University of Redlands. Loyola Marymount, Santa Clara

No use in suggesting most of the private colleges because scores are not strong enough for much merit aid and the ones she could get into do not meet need.

To really help we need to know class rank, budget and whether she can bring up scores.

Pomona and basically all the Claremont colleges.

missnin, not with that SAT score ---- maybe just pitzer

If money is an issue then I hope your friend is a CA resident. If not, maybe U Redlands.

I second UC-Santa Barbara

Whitman meets need but merit scholarships are very competitive. If your friend is strong in a particular field, especially art, music, or drama, that could help for those merit scholarships
