Hi, I live in a suburb of Seattle. I've gotten accepted by two schools: Penn State and a small in-state public school called Western Washington University. I'm still waiting on my University of Washington and University of Wisconsin decision. In case I get rejected by one or both UWs, how different would my life be in Pennsylvania/Wisconsin compared to Seattle? I understand that Penn State is in a pretty rural place, but the university is mostly made up of east coast kids and I'm still kind of nervous about being so far from home. Wisconsin scares me less since it's in a fairly big and diverse city and is closer to home. Any thoughts or tips on east coast/midwest life? Or is it pretty much the same as here in Seattle?

We’re from a suburb of Seattle also. My son has friends at both Wisconsin and Penn State having very good experiences. Both are in very pretty locations. To use local references, Madison would be kind of like Bellevue, State College more like Puyallup. Cultural differences will be small.

Southwest has direct flights to Milwaukee, then a $21 bus ride to Madison. Getting to the airport at Happy Valley requires a transfer.

Wow, I didn’t know that there would be a small difference. Thanks for the transport tips.
