West Coast to East Coast, Chance please!

<p>So I'm a junior in a VERY competitive high school in California, the one of the top schools in LAUSD with over 800 students graduating with me. </p>

<p>Chance for: NYU, Boston College, Vassar, Colgate University, BU, Wesleyan University, UMich, and Georgetown (plus UCLA, Cal, UCSD, UC Irvine, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, and Occidental College, more inclined towards East Coast Schools)</p>

<p>I'm Half Caucasian Half Korean
I am fluent in Korean as well as in Spanish
First generation college student</p>

<p>GPA: 3.8 UW, 4.11 W (.025 for each AP?) Rank probably top 25-30?
SAT: 700(Math) 690 (CR) 720 (Writing)
SAT 2's : 680 (Bio) 700 (World)
AP: Sophomore: AP Bio, AP World, AP Calc AB
Junior: AP Chem, AP English Lang, AP Psychology, AP Calc BC
Senior: taking AP Stats, AP Government, AP Computer Science, AP Art History, AP English Lit, AP Environmental Science</p>

Worked summer and weekends at my uncle's video store and pool cleaning service
200+ Hospital volunteer hours
Volleyball (Fresh&Soph)- had to stop due to injury :(
Secretary, VP's of endless clubs (i don't see these as Important)
Award: High Excellence in Korea (3 years in a row from Korean School)
Best Offensive/ Defensive Volleyball player</p>

<p>Facts to relate in essays
Youngest of 3, siblings in their 30s (did not go to college)
my dad retires this year
Have to tend to my 94 year old Grandmother and my mother who is suffering from ovarian cancer.
Hardship to understand my other korean half and learning the language (indeed cheesy)
Knowing I have to quit something I love (Volleyball) because of a sports injury.</p>

Your volunteering is definitely strong, and all the APs help. Your GPA and scores are a bit weak though, so some of your schools like Georgetown seem like reaches. NYU and BU and BC seem like matches. Probably a majority of the cal schools are matches too.
Being half asian sucks, but at least you’re also half white, which is better than full asian.
Your essays also sound like something colleges will like since they like to hear about the over coming struggles (like being first to go to college, dad retiring, and mom’s cancer (I’m sorry about that, btw. I hope she gets better soon :)), etc.)</p>
