West coast?!

Hey guys...

All right...I'm starting to think USC is the way to go. I'm visiting and I guess that'll help me figure out if I want to go there, but I still have some major concerns.

I probably want to live on the East Coast after college. Is USC a really dumb choice to make if I don't plan on living in California ever? Will I leave all my friends behind and then it'll suck being all alone? Is there even a sizeable alumni population in Boston or New York??? Do any other kids make this move???

HELPP!

Well, I've made the move from East Coast to West Coast, and I'm very happy with it. California is such a nicer place to live in than Virginia was. As for alumni, in the Washington, D.C. area there is quite a population of alumni, so I assume the same applies for Boston and NYC also. It is true that you would be better off living in California after graduation, in terms of alumni connections and job prospects. But the Trojan family is supposed to be enormous worldwide. Also don't forget that you'll make new friends at college and eventually might forget your high school ones. It's already happening to me now; all my H.S. friends have split into different colleges and I'm losing touch with them, sadly. But I'm making many new ones here at USC.

New York, I believe has the biggest Trojan alumni population outside of CA. I certainly don't think you'll regret coming to SC, but career wise it really depends on your major. For example, if you plan to do print journalism, although the journalism school at USC is reputable, it would probably be easier for you to go to a strong school in the NY area where all the print firms are located.

Once you visit the campus, you will be hooked! FIGHT ON!

USC has strong connections with the Washington, D.C. area. Make friends at USC, and it'll be great.
