<p>Does anyone know if athletics is necessary for West Point? I am not in any sports, but I hope to get involved with martial arts/boxing next year. I have the good grades (a 3.6 GPA, 10% class, all As) and the leadership (eagle scout, SPL/ASPL/PLx4, Business Director of the Solar Car Team). I am very fit, I just have never gotten involved in sports. Whenever I play a pickup football or frisbee game with my athletics friends, I can keep up with them. But since I am a Junior, would not being in a sport for so long hurt my chances? I am in marching band, so I have been in a tam/competition environment (Same with the Solar Car Team).</p>
