West Point Hopeful

What are my chances of getting into West Point? I'm a high school junior, currently enrolled in all AP and honors classes. My cumulative GPA is around 3.5 (unweighted). I never played varsity sports, although I did play volleyball my first two years of high school and basketball my first year. I have not taken my ACT yet but my projected score is around a 28. My first two years of high school went well, I landed in the top 10% of my class, just outside the top 5%. I was class treasurer during my freshmen year, and I have participated in many different community service jobs. Due to personal reasons, I have not done as well as I could have this past year (junior year) and was forced to quit participating in sports. Will the the admissions take into consideration the fact that I did do well for the most part of high school? And is it recommended that I take the SAT?

Any helpful suggestions or comments are always welcome.

Not having varsity sports will definitely, definitely hurt you. The average incoming class has 3 Varsity letters per new cadet. Many appointees are Varsity Team Captains, as well. The GPA might hurt you as well…try and do very well on SAT or ACT. 28 ACT isn’t going to do it, maybe try the SAT?
Do you have any leadership positions? The WCS (whole candidate score) consists of 60% academics, 30% leadership, and 10% CFA. Get involved in clubs, but more importantly delve into these clubs and earn leadership positions. It’s better do do 1 club and be president than 500 clubs and not be anything.
