Congrats on getting in that’s awesome!! I applied January 23rd and it’s still pending as of today
Thank you! May I ask what your stats are so I can help you better? I applied on Jan. 22nd so yours should be coming soon
English:27
Reading:32
Math:26
Science:27
GPA3.6
3 sporty varsity athlete lettered in cross country soccer track and I’m the track captain
I’m the leader of my schools GSA and Divsersity club in involved in environmental club amnesty international a club called peer leaders which is where upperclassmen help underclass men adjust to highschool and I worked for 2 summer as a volunteer consular at a special needs camp in Minnesota.
I think they look at all your subscores, but focus on Reading and especially Math. Your score is competitive as is right now, but even if you get accepted I would still try to improve especially on the math area because from what I heard a good math score is a huge plus. And if you do get accepted I recommend making it as high as possible for a better chance at receiving an LOA. The sports are great with leaderships, and the clubs are unique, so that might stand out. And if you’re from Minnesota (or anywhere that’s not NY) that should help too, because it’s also a marketing thing for West Point as they want to attract students from as many diverse areas as possible and students who live in NY can easily just sign up for a candidate visit weekend.
Alright thank you so much! Hopefully I’ll see you at West Point either this summer or next year on R-day!
No problem. Let me know how everything goes and maybe that will happen, good luck!
I applied a couple days after the application was released, and heard today that I was accepted to SLE!
@wegiveaship7 congratulations!! What state are you from? I’m from MD
Hi Guys! I am super interested in West Point as well… although as of now my stats aren’t that good. I can’t believe they didn’t inquire about my classes considering my schedule is one of my best assets when it comes to college applications… All APs and Honors all 3 years. MY weighted GPA is like a 4.1 I think?? Not sure. My school doesn’t rank but it is also a very competitive private school - I’m not sure if that is beneficial or detrimental. Does being from Michigan help at all lol? But my ACT overall was a 27 (I wish I was taking the March one because on every practice/old one I’ve taken I’ve gotten above a 33 - too bad they don’t know that) English - 31, Math - 27, Reading - 27, Science and Reasoning - 24 and writing 29. I am the president and founder of my schools medical club, I am the secretary in Model UN and I am a chair in out regional pro-life committee for speakers and press release. I competed in DECA, am on the mock trial team, I have a role in the school musical, I’m in National and Spanish Honors Society, I volunteer coach a track team, I am lifeguard/CPR.First aid certified, I was also mission trip group leader last summer. For athletics I swam one year and got my varsity letter, ran cross country two years and got my varsity letter, an
ran cross country two years and got my varsity letter, and ran track - I’m on the varsity team and I run for points but I am still confused why I wasn’t given my letter lol - can I still put that I am on varsity on the application?. Um I swim competitively and I’m on the racing team and I’ve placed previous at Junior Olympics (not that big of an achievement swimming Junior olympics ids different) but I’ve also received medals at the state meet (am I allowed to indicate that on the "special recognition years for a sport)? Sorry this is soo long I’m just super nervous.
Being from Michigan actually does help because it’s not huge like California and it’s not NY. Also, not alot of applicants come from there. You should try studying for the new sat, but if you want to retake the ACT you should go for above 30. Your sports, academics, and leaderships seem good though.
@purpledog354 i’m from Northern California, so opposite side of the country ahah
@wegiveaship7 cool! What session are you going to? I’m going to the first one
@purpledog354 I still have to send in the paperwork (my printer was broken) so I haven’t been assigned a week. But my preference was week 2.
Wait what paperwork^?
@sarahcarol once you get accepted you can access the papers on your cand. portal that you need to fill out (medical info., liability, etc.) that you will need to mail along with your check
@sarahcarol you will need your physician, a public notary, and a cashier check. So if you are accepted plan ahead for paperwork.
GUYS I’M SO HAPPY I GOT IN! Thank you so much for all the advice I hope everything works out for you guys!
@sarahcarol congrats!! What session did you sign up for?
@purpledog354 I’m not sure yet. Either way I’m missing half of my exams so I have to go over it with my guidance counselor but I’m hoping to attend session 2.
