Any word on when responses come for the Summer Seminar? I applied early Feb. and just wondering if anyone from last year remebered how long it took?
ZN

If I recall correctly, the invites came shortly after the application deadline.

Last year our son sent in his application February 17th and received his invitation the first week of March.

I mailed my application for the SLS back in early January and I didn't get anything back until around Valentines day.

I think it depends on where you fall in the pool. If you're a slam dunk, you get back an acceptance within a couple of weeks. If you're in the vast middle of the pool, they wait until the deadline to clearly rank and get the best of the applicants. So the answer is - you'll hear anytime between now and the end of April.

I was accepted about two weeks ago. Interestingly enough, I never actually applied. I sent in the candidate questionaire in February to jumpstart the admissions process. I was holding off on the SLS form because I wanted to finalize my Eagle Project, etc. However, the 700/690 SAT was all West Point needed to see before they sent me a lovely letter of congradulations of acceptance. But don't worry, admissions doesn't offically close until 18 April (Applications must be procured by 1 April). The admissions office may just be holding out to make sure no more super-stars apply.

I remember being surprised how soon my daughter heard back last year. She got a response within two weeks of mailing her app in (same for the naval academy seminar) in February. I imagine it varies greatly based on the strength of the candidates app as well as the candidates geographical location.

Fantastic - applied months ago to usma and usna yet havent heard yet from either. I had weak PSAT scores, who would have thought that a test taken freshmen year would have this kind of impact? :-D Anyway its a bit early but i was just wondering what you guys thought my chances might be of getting into USMA next year (though it is very difficult to tell without SAT or ACT scores yet... took new SAT on march 12 and taking ACTs on April 9th):

Congressional nomination should be expected (nearly impossible to get a senatorial nomination here in California!)

Im certainly lacking in student government (a.k.a. popularity contests) involvement however i think i make up for leadership in other areas. Sorry for the lengthy post but i would appreciate a brutally honest opinion from you guys because from reading it definitely sounds like you guys know your stuff. Thanks

"Congratulations. It is my pleasure to inform you that you have been selected to participate in Session 1 of the Naval Academy Summer Seminar (NASS)." yay - let me know if i'll see u there!

WP2010: All your stuff sounds pretty good, but it's impossible to tell without seeing your ACT/SAT scores. The guy who I'm going to Prom with (interesting story there, I'll tell it below) had all the stuff that you do, plus 3 4-year Varsity sports, but had an average score on the ACT. He was given the Association of Graduates Scholarship to go to a Prep School for a year (he's down at Marion Military Insitute right now).

It's kind of funny, but I spoke at this Founder's Day Dinner the other night. I got to meet 15 of my future classmates--all guys, and all Prepsters. I've talked with them a ton, and now I'm going to Prom with one of them! I'm really excited. It's so cool that i'm already meeting some of my future classmates...

I got my acceptance letter three weeks ago and sent my packet back yesterday. I'm hoping to get the first week, i'm in the second session for the naval academy. Maybe i'll see some of you all there.

I am going to 2nd session at the Naval Academy also. Still waiting on a reply from WP. See you there!

WP does that mean white power?

Isnt the app due April 1st? I thought it just said it would mail out any more apps? I was going to wait for my march SAT score before applying but now idk...

DO you actively participate in your Tung Soo Do?

yeaaahhhhhh forget wat i said about WP that was friend....yeaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh he came and typed crap.....

The SLS form must be on the admissions desk no later than 18 April. However, I would not wait. If you have decent PSAT scores, just use them. TONS of people have already been accepted before the deadline, myself included. So slots are filling up fast. To avoid this conflict with the 12 March SAT, I took the 18 January SATs, as I understand a few others did, specifically to use for the academy summer programs. This was definetly the right move for serious candidates. Hopefully, the 12 March SATs will help with CG AIM, but it may be too late for the SLS.

no way i could never use my psat scores lol...i got a 48, 58, 61. I am hoping to get a 650, 650, 700. So you see its a huge difference. I just hope its good enough to be acepted at the last minute. =/

dont worry about psat scores
i had 54 54 on those but i brought my sat's up to 1370 so i called them and told them when i got them in back in february and i got accepted like 2 weeks later

If you get that 2000, you may have a better shot, but remember: This is West Point. Only the best of the best go here.

Oh trust me i wont forget it.

yeah, its my number one choice, can someone give me my odds at getting in?
