West Pointer in desperate need of advice

So, I’m currently attending West Point for my second year. I arrived as class of 19 but was turned back to the class of 20 because of academic deficiency. Essentially, my GPA is shot… a 1.94. This place has drained me of my spirit and the hits just won’t stop coming. Don’t get me wrong, I’m giving it my all here but at this rate, I’ll be seperated. I need to know how difficult it would be to transfer into a school like Oklahoma state University with that GPA. I don’t know if it’s worth noting but I do have a 29 ACT. Anyone with experience, an answer would be appreciated. After I figure this out, all that’s left is getting my parents on board with my decision.

The best thing you could do is to contact admissions of your target college and ask them. The would be able to advise you better. You would be able to begin a dialogue with them and build toward a transfer. My advice as a parent would be to take some time off and gather yourself together again. This is not a race. College is out there waiting for you when you are ready for it. Take as much time as you want to figure out a new direction. Hopefully your parents will be on board for this.

There is light at the end of this tunnel. I know a student who was separated from the Coast Guard Academy for bad grades, went home, enrolled in a home-state public U, and has been a very successful student there. You can do the same once you get your spirit back.

Wishing you all the best!
