West Village F

I'm considering sending in my tuition and housing deposits soon if everything goes well and i am also going into honors. I was wondering if anyone has visited the wvf possibly during the welcome days and if they recommend it, because it does cost 200 more dollars per semester and I am in a financial pinch already. Thanks!

I visited with my daughter on the welcome weekend in February. The dorm is really nice, rooms are spacious, great kitchen and common "living room" area. The place has a very open and airy feel because of all the windows. The other honors dorm was Kennedy and it was on the opposite end of the campus. It was still spacious, but a bit smaller and more claustrophobic IMHO. My daughter definitely like WVF more. You can probably go on a cheaper meal plan and make your own breakfast and lunch. That will save enough to compensate for the $200 difference.

On the downside, it is a longer walk to the cafeterias and WVF feels like it's on the outskirts of the campus. Kennedy is also on the fringe, but still feels closer. My daughter is still waiting to hear from a few other schools, and hopes to make a decision in time to request WVF is she picks NEU.

Few things. First off if you decide on living in WVF, DO NOT get a 15 meal plan. I guarantee you will not hike over to the dining hall for breakfast before your 8 or 9:15 am class. I'm on a 10 meal/wk plan and only use about 4 or 5 meals/week.

I live in WVF right now and recommend it. My bedroom inside the suite is bigger than any other freshman dorm outisde of WVF. Here is one thing to think about: if you live in WVF, your room comes with a full fridge. If you live anywhere else freshman year, you will probably invest in a microfridge. If you buy it and split it with your roommate, it will probably cost you 100-200 bucks. That right there is close to making up for the difference. As far as the rest of WVF, you get an oven/stove, garbage disposal, and dishwasher which is very nice. You get a pretty big living room with a couch and two smaller one seaters. You get a table with 4 chairs, AIR CONDITIONING, and two bathrooms.

I think its worth the 200 bucks. THe only downside is what WTBS said about its location. It is pretty far away from the dining hall so you might end up going to the Wallastons near WVF and spending money there. But NEU gives you 190 dining dollars with your 10 meal/wk meal plan and there are plenty of people who don't even use all of them.

If you don't mind walking to the dining hall, then I would say its worth it.

Ditto what RedSox2007 said. Get the 10 meal plan (the smallest meal you can get as a freshman). my daughter uses it for take out mostly. WVF is definitely worth 200 more per semester, the only real problem I see is that after living there freshman year you get spoiled for the following years!! But that is not a bad thing .... you deserve the best housing being in the honors program, why not go for it.

As far as Kennedy, when we toured the building I couldn't even stay on the tour as I was so claustrophobic going through the rooms.... it is very old and doesn't hold a candle to WVF.

Good luck.

RatedPG, would you recommend 10 meal plan for students not in the honors housing ? Would it apply to those doomed to live in the Stetsons ?

WTBS was supposed to be WVF. I dont know why I did that. Sorry.

I was in stetson west and had a 10 meal plan. Many times I didn't even use all of it and had to blow it on outtakes.
