I’ve always wanted to teach high school. I don’t know why but presenting power points on things I find really interesting is my comfort zone. That being said, I’m having trouble deciding which school would be the best for me. I want to teach Biology when I’m older so my top choices are WCU, App State, and UNCW. I’ve heard that Western Carolina University is a great school for biology because of it’s location in the southern app mountains but I don’t know much about it’s education program. Same thing for UNCW except they focus more on marine biology because they are located about 5 minutes from the beach. I don’t know much about App States Biology program but I’ve heard that App State has a very impressive education program. UNCW is the more selective school and WCU is the the least. Any of you guys have an opinion on which school has the best biology program and which school has the best education program?
I don’t know much about App State or WCU, so I unfortunately can’t be of much help there. What I do know is that UNCW has a great education program! I know many people graduating with education degrees from here, and they get a lot of field experience one in the program, which I think is probably the most important part to learning how to teach. Unfortunately I don’t know anyone personally that’s majoring in a teaching something like Biology, but I was looking around about found this program in the course catalogue:

This might be a perfect program for you, if you’re looking to teach high schoolers (not sure if this applies to middle schoolers too). And while UNCW does have a wonderful marine biology program, our biology program is great too. I just finished taking human anatomy here, and I think we have the best professor ever. All of the bio professors I’ve meet are so open to helping you, and really want you to understand the material. I know a lot of people who got into research their freshman year of college, because we have so many professors willing to work with undergrads for research, if you’d be interested in that at all.
