Western Civ---your Thoughts

hey all.

i really would love to take r 44, western civ with that british professor.
I heard its a tremendous amount of reading, but what are your thoughts on it? any personal experiences to discuss here?

ill also be takign astro 10, math 16 a, and a fresh seminar...not too bad.

thanks for any and all advice.

That might be the course with 12 required books to read. Just a heads up.

check: calstudentstore.com

According to my cousin who took it, there is a LOT of reading. So much that you will have mastered the art of skimming by the end of the semester.

yea looked like 8 or so books...not soooo bad. aside from reading alot, any other stories/experiences?

Don't forget the reader.

I took R44 fall 05 and really liked the class. There is A LOT of reading but work wise... you only write 3 essays and the GSIs read a first draft (not graded)

Sorry on reviving the topic, but I didn't want to start a new thread when this one is already here.

*Does anyone still have a list of books to buy for L&S R44? I went on the course website, http://courseweb.berkeley.edu/courseweb/pub/control/navigator?fromPage=public&navigate.course.x=66&navigate.course.y=11&navigate.course=submit, but it doesn't have it.
*If there is only 3 essays, are they a BIG PORTION of our grade?
*Is the final an in class essay?
*Does the professor grade hard?

Thanks in advance. This will determine if I will sign up for this class or not.
