Western Governors University

Hi there
I am new to this Forum, found it on accident searching for info on WGU.
I am not yet registered at Western Governors University but it sounds enticing with the flexibility and the low cost.

My problem is this- WGU only does pass/fail of their courses. That comes out to a gpa of 3.0 acc. to WGU. If I should decide to go for a Masters later, after my BA, will I be able to attend any Masters programs with such a relatively low gpa?
But-Worse yet- if I don't complete the online degree will all my pass/fail credits be wasted, i.e. can't be used toward any degree at a traditional college/
Anybody got any input on this?

The grading issue shouldn’t be a problem. Pass/Fail is accepted by many schools. The bigger issue to me is that WGU 1)uses many other online schools to provide its course work making the quality pretty inconsistent 2) and is online. Make sure you investigate the quality of the courses you will be taking, and that you think long and hard about the difficulty of an online program. To successfully complete a program like this, you need to be incredibly well motivated. And the workload is actually larger than in classroom based programs because “class participation” is not really part of a grade. There’s an enormous amount of written work in most online programs, and very little chance to collaborate or socialize with other people in the program. You’re on your own. So if you are the type of person who can get a college degree independently, this kind of program would work for you. If not, you probably want to investigate any program offered more locally.
