Western NC

My boyfriend is currently going to a community college (CC of Rhode Island) and is looking to transfer into a 4 year college/university in or near western North Carolina (the closer to Asheville the better...this is where I live), or near the Virginia/ NC line (this is where his parents and siblings live). He would be out of state and is looking for tuition less than 15,000 preferably. And the major he is looking for is photography or journalism (minoring in whichever he does not major). These are the main concerns, but for the most part he is up for bit of give and take.

He's a musician and while he does not plan on pursuing this as a career, living in an area with a nice music scene would be a huge plus. He's for city or rural, relatively small school to huge university, public or private (as long as financial aid would likely lead to less than 15,000...), the other characteristic just aren't as important as the first three (location, price, major). Also, he's not much of a partier, but that can be avoided regardless of the vibe of the school.

Suggestions would be unbelievably appreciated!!!! (I found my dream school from a pm as a reply to a thread I made on this forum, so I know how much a quick passing of thoughts can change when it comes to stuff like this).

Suggest away! And thank you so much!!

UNC-A seems like the obvious choice to me.
