Westmont College

Hey guys,

My girlfriend is looking at a few schools as she was late in the game of applying to college due to fear of not being able to afford to go. I convinced her of the merits of financial aid, and we started looking.

She found Westmont College and liked it a lot, but is scared of its reputation of restricting the social lives of students. Is this reputation well-deserved, or is it just over-exaggerated? She is a Christian, but she has sort of grown away from church and her faith during some stressful years in high school. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Travis

Westmont is very expensive and does not have a good financial aid program. I’ve never heard of the reputation you refer to.

hey, I was wondering how much of a religious college Westmont is (required chapel?, etc…) and how is their financial aid program?

Chapel is required three times per week. You get twelve skips per quarter I believe. There are three required bible classes. The environment is VERY Christian. So if you’re looking for a strong Christianschool Westmont is a great choice!

[Jeff Sharlet writes about Westmont College](http://killingthebuddha.com/mag/dogma/ditto-boys/) and it’s deep ties to [The Fellowship](The Fellowship (Christian organization) - Wikipedia).

The valedictorian of my son’s Christian high school went to Westmont precisely because they gave her more aid than any other school.

Westmont is a great school. Very few students would find it restricting there.
