Senior Year Courseload:

AP Calc AB

ECs, Awards, and stuff:

NMS Commended (205)

11th Grade- Harvard Prize Book

CT Science Fair- honorable mention 9th Grade

National History Day- Individual Documentary in 9th Grade, 2nd place at both regionals and states, competed in Maryland at the nationals

Chemistry Olympiad- one of only 4 people in our grade selected to do it, we had taken the intro chem. Class pretty much, not AP. Needless to say, we got destroyed, but I think our group came in 2nd at states for our lower category

DECA: 11th and 12th Grades, business club. At the CT CDC, won 2nd place in PMK division, earned a trip for the Internationals in Orlando, but couldn’t go b/c I had baseball

French Trip to Quebec 10th Grade

XC: 9-12 Grade (Varsity 10,11,12) 2x Academic All Conference

A LOT of baseball related stuff:
HS Baseball (JV 9,10. Varsity 11,12) won best defensive player award, as voted by the team 11th grade, and Academic All Conference

-helped run clinics for local youth baseball programs, 9,10,11,12
-camp counselor at a summer baseball camp, paid, ~20 hours a week, 2 weeks total, 10,11,12
-helped build dugouts at our school when we didn’t have any
-volunteer to deliver ice at our large local fair to vendors to raise money for baseball program

-Summer Baseball Team 9, 10, 11. This is my major summer activity for these years. Large time commitment, team ran from June after HS season to the middle of August, probably 2 weeks before school. Thing is, I couldn't really do much in the summer as we would have tournaments that would go for a week here, 5 days there, into the weekends. Most of these were in other states, and plus I had showcases that would run for a few days too.
Won 1 tournament this summer,
2nd Place in another

Volunteer at Habitat for Humanity in the summer a few times

Hopefully volunteering at a hospital this coming year.
Maybe NHS, I don’t know, they rejected me this past year, and a kid who was 3rd in the class, but who knows about this year.

this applies to everything after UV on your list:
your rank and gpa are great, but your sat’s could use a little work (not that they aren’t good), while your ec’s are fine. the focus on sports should definitely be your hook, and all of the academic competitions should work for you. overall, your probably a high match to a low reach for most of these.

Bump…

Any other opinions, I would really like another Southern school on my list. Maybe one a little less urban than Vanderbilt, suburban maybe.
