For example,

Where it says average freshmen GPA, is that the UC GPA, 10th/11th grade GPA (uncapped), or the weighted GPA (note: my weighted GPA includes grades from middle school and non a-g courses)? I really would like to know my chances better so I need to know which GPA they’re using. One side is telling me I’m not going to make it because of my UC GPA and the other is telling me I am going to make it because of 10th/11th grade GPA. Help!

lol i noticed the title is spelled wrong. can someone fixed that please?

This is a little clearer. It’s for UCLA, but I’m sure the others are out there too.

Don’t get hung up on the UC GPA, they uncap it in analysis of your application. They do ask for all your a-g grades even if the class was taken in middle school (self-reported, verified by official transcript if you enroll). Not sure how much those grades are used in the decision, but number of a-g’s and honors taken is a consideration.

So do you think its likely that the GPA on the UC site is 10th/11th grade uncapped weighted GPA? UCLA seems to be indicating it, but I just want to make sure so I know where I fall.

The one from the first post’s link says admitted freshman average is 4.16, the one from the UCLA website says 4.36 (which is definitely 10-11, uncapped). Pretty big difference. My guess is that 4.16 is average UC GPA for admits, but it is unclear. FWIW, S’s UC GPA was 4.05, uncapped 4.45. He got in.

It’s the GPA for your sophomore and junior year. It weights only 8 AP’s and honors(honors must be approved, check with your school) max.
