noticed an obvious trend. Most of the kids in ED that got accepted into wharton have close to 800 on math part of SAT1 and close to a 4.0 UW gpa. Was that the magic recipe this year? seems so.

yes, generally good scores and a good gpa really help.

Well you could say that about basically any top school...

yep pretty much

but the special thing is... theres kids with 2350 with 3.8 gpa (alike ec and same race and stuff) being rejected and kids with 2180 with 4.0 gpa being accepted.

that's prolly cause they weight the academic transcript more than SAT

I'm actually one of those high SAT not so high GPA people so my fingers are crossed that i'll get lucky!

see i dont think thats fair. I messed up freshman year so i might be screwed up already. As for the SAT, they really should put more weight on it. Oh well, the whole college process is retarded.

Uh... the SAT has more than enough weight on it as it is =/

I agree with you sushant, i'm in the same boat (did bad my freshman year in french, if you omitted that i'd solidly be in the top 5%).

See, the freaking high schools dont inform us with stuff like "Freshman year grades count towards college and rank and gpa and blah" ... stupid schools. In freshman year.. i didnt even know what gpa was and how competetive the colleges were. They JUST started mentioning that we need to keep up the grades for colleges.... im like ***. cuz freshman year.. all i did was get mostly Bs .. and i only signed up for 2 out of 6 advanced classes... omfg -_-. I hate high school.

Dude, I only found out ECs were important like... Junior year so I'm in the same boat =/

check out starlocker113 too--saw his post from last year's decision thread a while ago. asian male barely in the top 20%, ECs are pretty good but not exceptional, SATs are a little above average, and got into wharton. he gives me a slight bit of hope.

quaker.. i saw all the acceptances to Wharton.. 3.9 is pretty darn close to 4.0 . I would say that the kids that have a 3.85 or below have something else going for them. Like their race? or perhaps sports or amazing hooks or legacy. Honestly, i still stand by my earlier theory. Most kids that dont have anything favoring them like their location or their race.. those kids have a close to a 4.0 UW (3.9+ is close) and a high MATH score.

So are you saying with a 4.0 with 750 math I'm toast? The SAT math is crap. Would a 800 math level 2, and 99% in the equivalent of calc BC (im from canada) save my less than perfect score? I'm white...

quaker10, were any of those people URM's? Some of their stats are SUPER low for Wharton O.o
