but congrats and just shows anything can happen- and no your not a bad student haha

wow, wis3ly, way to start a thread where prospective Wharton applicants post their stats but not even include your own stats.
That is Whartonite behavior! lol

"those are impressive stats but i thought wharton was taking the best of the best-- are u a URM or athlete or anything"

Im not a URM (im white) and I'm not an athlete. I'm from Canada, so you have no conception of the marking system up here, that's why I included the rank; the 88-90 percent range is very strong here because we don't have the mark inflation you see on this board (GPA's of over 100...). Wharton is looking for intelligent and articulate people and not study machines. The amount of rejected 4.0-2400 people demonstrate this. Basically, if you are INTELLIGENT (4.0 doesn't mean you are intelligent) then they will know based on the other aspects of your application, like the essay and recs etc... Hope that helps to clarify

gpa 3.9 UW.... 33 act... 2260 sat.....
no hooks really. i think if you show a passion for something and really want to be there (i'm not that good of a writer and i was worried, but i think my essay still conveyed desire) then you can get in. i think my recs helped also.

2300 SAT, 800s on SAT Math I, Math II and Chemistry, 760 on US History
35 ACT
4.155 W GPA, 3.95 UW (class val)

Amazing Interview (I think this is what put me into the admitted pool - I don't really have any hooks or anything that really stands out)
Female/Ohio
Asian

Unfortunately UPenn couldn't even come close to Harvard's financial aid, so that's where I'm heading. I hope I don't come to regret my decision in a couple of years time but Go Crimson '12!!
And good luck to everyone applying from the class of '09!

4.0 UW
2100 SAT + 800, 780, 730 SAT IIs
33 ACT
Ranked 1/210
President of a few clubs, member of community service clubs

I really think the essays are what helped me though - my personal statement was very deep and the Why Penn essay was pretty unique in my opinion.
