Planning to get internship this summer @ a financial institution

Your thoughts and suggestions to improve the chances?....

You need to provide a few more pieces of information for people to accurately chance you.

What’s your ethnicity?
Do you have any hooks?
What AP’s did you take and which ones are you planning to take?
What grades did you earn in your math courses?
What field of business are you interested in?

Hello

Ethnicity - Asian Indian
Do you have any hooks? - I could not understand, help me please.

AP’s taken (Sophomore)

AP-Biology
AP-American Government

AP’s taking (Junior Current)

AP-Calculus AB & BC
AP-Macro Economics
AP-Psychology
AP-English Lang and Composition

AP- (Senior Planning to take):

AP - Statistics
AP - Computer Science
AP - Environmental Science
AP - Literature
AP - Spanish (Currently not offered; District is planning to offer next year if possible)

Grades:

From freshman year, straight “A” in ALL subjects including ALL math (took all the honors available when AP’s were not available in 9th and 10th grade) year except first half of current year Calculus AB is “B” grade (which pulled perfect GPA 4.0 down to 3.95). On track to get A in second half.

Business interested in : Finance

Hooks = URM status, legacy, athletic recruit, or development case (i.e. someone in your immediate family donated a building to the school)

Also, congrats on landing a job at a hedge fund over the summer! I’m seriously amazed that you got a chance to work there. As for your chances, I forgot to ask one question in the last post: what do you plan to do during the summer?

If you get an internship this summer that’s as impressive (or more impressive) that your hedge fund job, I’d say that Wharton is a reach for you if you write good essays and show interest. Due to its insanely low acceptance rate, Wharton is essentially a crap-shoot for 95% of applicants. Your application is pretty strong, however, so your chances at Wharton are MUCH better than for most applicants. Good luck!

I think you have a decent shot, but nothing on here really stands out as wharton/business/leadership material. Rather than getting an internship at a financial institution though, I’d do something more academic or community-service oriented. I think there’s a push to diversify away from having too much of a “banker” class.
